In terms of overall poker strategy and basic poker math, my vote went for David Sklansky's The THeory of Poker. This book changed the way I look at poker hands and poker in general. Although a bit of a dry read, and put down by younger poker players as outdated, I think it is a good building block. As far as entertaining reads, I like Barry Greenstein's "Ace on the River", just don't expect too much technical info.
to be honest i carnt really vote ive never read a poker book in my life , all my skill and knowledge has come from playing poker for the past 10 years, but what ever gives you the egde on poker go for it, good luck mobster

havent read much of the poker books, but about half of David Sklansky's Theory of Poker but will like to read few of them in future. Sklansky can get boring but it gives good information for beginners.

I've only read one - "Kill everyone" which was the follow up to "Kill Phil". It's primarily an MTT strategy book - however it briefly covers SNG and 6max cash.
I'd give it an 8/10 - was definitely a pretty good read.
------------ I'm interested to see the results of this poll actually and the thread in general. I'm a member of a survey site - basically, I take surveys online (I just do them at work) and I get paid in points.. I can cash out the points and get online vouchers - one of the sites I can cash out to is Amazon..
That is how I got Kill Everyone - and now I have around $30.00 balance that I'll use to buy another book. So look forward to everyones comments/votes here. I haven't voted as I haven't read anything on the poll.

Thanks ShoveitandTilt. I have been looking for a good book to read, I am mainly a tourney player and therefore am not sure but I am sure this poll will help.

GL to all mobsters.
If you're a tourney player, then its hard to go past my suggestion (and by suggestion, I mean the only book I've read lol) Kill Everyone
Great book; and regarded by many as one of the top MTT strategy books currently out there.. Still fairly current in terms of trends/etc as well

I have a few PDFs(lucky for me on the EHD) but have never properly read one(mainly because I have to read it on a screen, much rather a book by they bog). OK, first nearly every book that I have part-read has not been aimed so much towards on-line poker players, more from Pro live players and their views, which is helpful. Best book of all time would need to be broken down in to sub sections. Ryan Fee’s 6max NL Strategy Guide is a nice 6man read, google it (free). Over all being sat at the table is much better than reading any book, for any beginners a simple, search on poker will give them a good guide. Or just check out bankrollmobs Poker Strategies section.

Havent ever read any poker related books ( you should put more options in the poll) and i never gonna read one since i think its a waste of time. On the other hand im not a pro, not wanna be one and not living out of poker. So people in these categories i bet will have read a book once. Besides dozn of course

Hey Mober, i really wanted to add more in the polls but it was getting a bit tedious. I knew before i even wrote the thread that i would miss some and omit others. Next time i make a poll ill be sure to add as many as possible

From this list i have only read Phil Helmut's, so i have to chose that one. But, at least looking at the title, i am interested in reading Doyle's "Super System". He must have had someone analysing is poker story and i guess we all have to learn with someone with so many years of experience. What i most like at books is strategy parts. Portuguese authors still haven't entered much in this section, limiting themselves to show the rules and some interesting hands played along poker history. I think an author shouldnt be afraid of going through a specific hand and explain it all the way long. Exploring the importance of position should also be a theme in which authors could write more, without being afraid of being criticized for their opinion about how to act in certain cases. That's why there are still so many young players that prefer to come to forums and explore what most experienced players have to say about a single play instead of reading a book full of stories.
