Unless you have money to spare on it, ot the other android devices, its better to buy a small laptop that you can do everything on it with worrying about compatibility. And i bet by next year ipad 5 will be in the stores lol.
I bought a tablet for use as an eReader - one of the best purchases I ever made, I got the Google Nexus 7 (Android). I use it 99% of the time for reading books and it is amazing, not only do you have (instant) access to pretty much any book you want, online - it's also far easier to read than an actual book, plus it saves what page you're up to, supports interactive features (table of contents that you can actually click on, etc). It has it's own light, so you don't need a lamp AND you can carry around as many "books" as you like.
Also, if you're interested, it can also play movies, games, go online, etc. I would never bother taking my laptop around with me everywhere, but a 7inch tablet is perfect.
If you're a reader of books, I couldn't possibly overstate how incredible an eReader/Tablet is!

I was sure when i saw this thread that it was an old one and came to see what knew was added only to see the quote from jessthehuman. Your edit made me laugh.
But i still prefer books, original paper books. And i still can fold a page as a reminder to where i was The only thing i cant stand sometines though is the way they smell. I have even quit reading a couple of books cause of that

As for Flash on iOS vs Android, I believe Adobe stopped with Flash for mobile devices recently, so Android will also soon be without Flash. Flash just doesn't run very well on those mobile devices.
yea...u re right ,i have a tablet >>android and doesn t support flash ,btw my friend u have other altenative.....like ...use teamviewer and jump on u re pc .TeamV is very quiq & u can take u re own pass ;i m bad

this has already happened, all new androids no longer support flash. and there won't be any fix as flash is being fazed out
