Posted by mirexx: good strategy to follow if you don't mind being punished by the rng for being a nit! sounds good in theory, but too often you'll play this patient game only to get busted with a hand that should have won a huge pot for you, but instead some player who has been active throughout the whole game sucks out on you and all that patience goes right out the proverbial window and you're left with your jaw hitting the floor! you're better off being active, at least you'll have a fighting chance.
Well, as long as I keep calm and stick to my game, I'll be fine. Suckouts are just a part of poker, I'll just have to deal with it. If I stay calm and keep on my A-game, I'll be profitable in the long run!
------------ Well, a decent day. SnG wise I made a baffling $0.03 profit! However, I did play a freeroll and won a $20 MTT entry! Not to bad of a day

Nothing wrong with starting with $5 bankroll. 50 buy ins is plenty for nanostakes STTs, and if you stick to it consistently there's no reason why you couldn't build a solid BR with it Just one thing, I wouldn't update my BR daily if I was you, especially if you play just a few SNGs per day. Like when you wrote "whooping $0.03" ironically,it's actually not a bad day, and you will often have losing days, no matter how good you are. According to sharkscope 38% of my playing days have been losing days, and I play relativly high volume on days I play. Also, in the long run a good player will probably make 2 Cents per game, so keep that in mind in your estimations.

That's all some good advise! I'm gonna start a new thread for the next year and my plan is to make weakly updates. I'll be sticking to a 50 BI minimum rule. I'll probably be playing some freerolls as well and from those winnings, 50% will be boosting my bankroll and 50% will be cashed out. By the end of each month, If I've made any profit that month, 10% of the profit will be cashed out as well. This is to get a small side income and to make sure that I actually get some profit and have money to make a deposit if I for some reason would lose my bankroll.

If you can afford not to, then I'd recommend you to not cash out at the beginning. Once you have a bankroll for at least the $2s and play more tables to put in more volume then your plan sounds reasonable. Playing the $2s at good volume making a side income is definitely possible (or equal on pokerstars, the $1.50s). Volume is mandatory to do that at microstakes though. If you regulary cash out a small portion of your winnings now then it will take you longer to climb up to stakes where you can actually make a PROPER side income.
What I personally would recommend you: - keep playing as usual and use all promotions party offers (these mission things seem like a good bankrollbuilder) - stick to 50BI rule and don't cash out until you have about $100 - move your BR to pokerstars once you have $100
The last step may be done earlier as well if you want to, it depends what you want to play, if you want to play STTs I'd recommend $100 at least, but $0.25 45/90 player SNGs are also good games

Thanks for the advise! I'll have to see what I actually wind up doing. I'm still planning it all in my head so I haven't decided on anything yet. But the "not cashing out until the $100 bankroll" thing was an idea I had but I haven't made any real calculations as to if I will be able to put in enough volume by then or if I maybe should wait even longer.
But I'll be thinking about your advise for sure!
------------ Just because there was some talk about cash games, I sat down at a couple of tables and had a short session. I made a profit of $2.73 from that session so that puts my bankroll over the $10 mark for a total of $10.05! This means that I can now move on to the $0.20 SnG's and hopefully make a little bit more cash.
Since my economy is at an all time low at the moment, this whole bankroll will be used to by christmas presents. It may not be much but when your economy is actually in the red, every cent counts! And to be honest, I'm a little bit ashamed since I should have had more money saved for emergencies so I don't wanna tell my family about this. I'll get my economy in order in a couple of months probably but that's not enough time to be able to buy christmas presents. So whatever I can make this bankroll into, I'll use that to pay at least some of the costs!
So, let's hope that I can make this bankroll a 3-figure number before christmas!

So I played some today, total profit of $0.44 which puts my total bankroll at $10.49. Slow and steady wins the race
Well, it's not much but at least it's something. Tomorrow I'll start focusing on the $0.20 SnG's. I don't think the quality of the players there are that much better then that of the $0.10 SnG's. I guess I'll find out tomorrow

Hey mate,
I am very glad to hear that I am not the only one who is playing 1-2 tables at a time in this poker universe. I often hear from people playing up to 20 tables at the same time. I can not even imagine that is possible.

I am deeply sorry about the luck I have just had at the pokertable. I was playing a tournament on Pokerstaars and decided to shove with JJ and got called from a pair of K. The river brought me a jack and I won.
