Severino is coming off his first Major League win on Aug. 22 vs. Cleveland, in which he held the Indians to a solo homer among three hits over six innings.

What's Next

TEX: Right-hander Yovani Gallardo pitches for the Rangers at 9:10 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Petco Park. Gallardo was 4-0 with a 1.98 ERA in five starts during August. He also gets to bat and has 12 career home runs, the most by an active pitcher.

SD: Padres right-hander Andrew Cashner, who is from Texas, makes his first career start against the Rangers at 7:10 p.m. PT on Tuesday. Cashner went to Conroe High School outside Houston and then pitched at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

PIT: Left-hander Jeff Locke (7-8, 4.46 ERA) gets the Bucs' bounce-back assignment in Wednesday night's 8:10 p.m. ET game against the Brewers at Miller Park, where he has been quite successful. Since allowing three homers in his 2011 debut in the park, Locke has gone 3-1 and given up only one other homer in 25 1/3 innings.

MIL: Zach Davies, 22, will make his Major League debut when the series continues Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. CT. Davies, acquired in the July 31 trade with the Orioles for outfielder Gerardo Parra, joined the Brewers' system as its No. 11 prospect, according to's rankings, and is the second player acquired in a July trade (with outfielder Domingo Santana) to make it to Milwaukee.

CHW: Jeff Samardzija puts August in the rear view mirror as he makes his first start of September. Samardzija is 3-1 with a 5.12 ERA lifetime against the Twins. He is coming off a month of August in which he lost all six starts and had an 8.82 ERA.

MIN: The Twins will send Kyle Gibson to the mound for the finale of the three-game series, beginning at 12:10 p.m. CT. Gibson is 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in 16 innings pitched against the White Sox this season, and he is coming off a scoreless outing against the Astros.

SEA: Tom Koehler (8-12, 3.98 ERA) seeks his first win since July 23. The right-hander gets the start on Saturday for the 7:05 p.m. ET start at Nationals Park. Koehler is 3-5 with a 4.28 ERA in eight career starts vs. the Nationals.

WAS: Jordan Zimmermann (10-8, 3.54) will make his third start of the season against the Marlins on Saturday. Zimmermann didn't factor into the decision in either of the first two starts, but he combined to throw 13 innings, allowing three earned runs and zero walks while striking out eight.

LAA: Alex Wood starts against the Padres for just the second time in his career Saturday evening. Wood was hit hard last July 25 vs. San Diego for five runs and 12 hits in five innings. Ethier could make his return from a bruised right knee. He didn't start the first two games of the series after fouling a ball off his right knee on Wednesday.

SD: San Diego will send Tyson Ross to the mound for the third game of a four-game series against the Dodgers. Ross (10-9 , 3.27 ERA), last faced the Dodgers on April 7, when he took a no-decision, allowing two runs on six hits through six innings.

TB: The Rays travel to Detroit to begin a three-game series against the Tigers with a Labor Day matinee at 1:08 p.m. ET. Drew Smyly (2-2, 3.11 ERA) will make his fifth start since returning from the disabled list (shoulder). This will be his first start against his former team. He last pitched at Comerica Park on the day he was traded to the Rays, July 14, 2014.

NYY: The Yankees will send Michael Pineda to the mound Monday for the first of a three-game set with the Orioles, with first pitch set for 1:05 ET at Yankee Stadium. Pineda is looking for his 11th win of the season and his fourth career win against the Orioles. On May 10, in a career-best performance, Pineda racked up 16 strikeouts against the O's. In his last outing in Boston, Pineda got the win after allowing one run with seven strikeouts over seven innings.

NYM: New York opens a pivotal three-game set at Washington, which is in second place in the NL East, on Monday at 1:05 p.m. ET. Jonathon Niese (8-10, 4.17 ERA) gets the ball for the Mets, while Max Scherzer (11-11, 2.89 ERA) goes for the Nationals.

FLA: The Marlins open a three-game set on Monday with the Brewers at 1:10 p.m. ET. Rookie left-hander Justin Nicolino (3-2, 3.07) will make his eighth big league start. Milwaukee is going with right-hander Zach Davies (0-0, 8.31).

TEX: Cole Hamels makes his seventh start for the Rangers when he faces the Mariners at 9:10 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Safeco Field. This will be Hamels' third start against the Mariners since being acquired from the Phillies on July 31. He is 0-1 with a 4.85 ERA against them in two starts with the Mariners hitting .313 off him.

SEA: Right-hander Taijuan Walker (10-7, 4.51 ERA) takes the mound against the Rangers for the third time this season in the second game of a four-game series on Tuesday at 7:10 p.m. PT at Safeco Field. Walker earned a no-decision against the Astros on Wednesday, yielding three earned runs on five hits in 6 2/3 innings in an 8-3 win for Seattle. The Mariners are 13-3 in his last 16 starts.

COL:The Rockies will send Chris Rusin to the mound for the 7:10 p.m. MT game. Rusin threw a complete game in his last start, allowing six hits and three runs against the Giants on Sept. 3. The lefty last faced San Diego on Aug. 26 at Coors Field, and threw a shutout, allowing just five hits.

SD: James Shields (10-6, 3.83) gets the start in the third game of a four-game series on Wednesday. This will be his fourth start against the Rockies this season. He allowed one earned run in five innings in a victory over Colorado on July 17.

NYM: Bartolo Colon will put his career-high 25-inning scoreless streak on the line when the Mets open a four-game series Thursday in Atlanta. Once a long shot to crack the postseason rotation, or perhaps even the roster, Colon has injected himself back into the conversation. He will oppose right-hander Shelby Miller in Thursday's 7:10 p.m. ET game.

WAS: They have the day off on Thursday and then play a three-game series against the Marlins at Marlins Park starting Friday night at 7:10 p.m. ET. Left-hander Gio Gonzalez makes the start in the first game. A native of Hialeah, Fla., Gonzalez has made only three regular-season starts in Miami and is 6-3 with a 2.44 ERA in nine games against the Marlins.
