IMO Jason Mercier is very cheap of not accepting a by out if really she was very drunk when she made that bet.
The next day or so she realize that she had made a very bad mistake and Mercier declined her offer even if knew that it was made when she was very drunk and not a very clear brain.
To bad that a very good poker player like him would accept money from a drunk.

Why should he ? If she was drunk at the cash tables and he kept taking her money then that's a different story.She probably thought she was being smart with the bet as it isn't easy to do but now when he's 2/3 of the way there she wants a buyout Take her for every penny Jason.

No sweat at all. Jason mercier is such a bad player. He lucked out twice already. There is no way he is going to bag a third win. I am willing to put up 200 mob point for a measly 1 mob point that jason mercier will fail to cash in on that action. Keep dreaming pal.

@teddybears73 I dont think so. You just wish you were as lucky as him. I rate vanessa selbst more than jason mercier. Hopefully he does not get the extra bit of luck he does not deserve and bankrupt a good female player. When you look at the gender stats of the wsop, it is already a sausagefest. Gl banessa.

Can we agree that it was a foolish bet for her to take because she clearly hugely miscalculated the odds to start with? In the interview she says “the true odds have to be 10,000:1 or higher” and she snap called his 200-1 offer. Maybe she'd have snap called 500-1 or even 1000-1. Seems like a lot of drunken d**k wagging.

Well he's just treating Vanessa like one of the boys. If it was a man who made a bet while drunk people wouldn't say he's a macho and stuff like that. Before you bet big amount on tiny odds of something happening you better look at the risks and rewards... These guys are professional gamblers/investors surely they know something as basic as this.
The true odds of winning 3 are small but when you've already won 2 you only need to win 1 more so you can't see it as a 10,000 to 1 shot. It's a 1 to/amount of players in the tournament shot. And probably less since Jason Mercier has an edge on most players.

A bet is a bet as they say. If he can say that its ok and its off, it will be good, but cant blame him for not cancelling it. You should be careful what you do and under what circumstances. Actions and reactions
sometimes alcohol intoxication assists in a game of poker and betting stakes ... I can tell you exactly how he did it, and I sometimes much luck in the game ... but of course it is better not to do so as it is possible to lose too much

Would you make a such a huge bet when intoxicated? I guess most of us couldn't afford such a huge bet so it all starts to become relative. If you made a bet when drunk that was worth $20 would you be overly worried? Nah, didn't think so! It's peanuts to her whether drunk or not.... she's also having fun....at whatever the cost!

well i am not over the moon about the opportunity to meet vanessa selbst on the golf course, in a bar, coffee shot, steak house or even pizza place since i am not too sure i could handle the manly odour coming from the armpits all that well. so i pass this great opportunity to tony mon7ana
