The final day of the WSOP Main Event final table started with three players: Qui Nguyen out in front with 197,600,000 in chips, Gordon Vayo in second with 89,000,000, and Cliff Josephy with 50,000,000. On the first hand of play, Josephy doubled through Nguyen to overtake the second place from Vayo, who then doubled up through Josephy with a set-over-set cooler four hands later to nab the overall chip lead.

On Monday, five players returned for the second day of the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event - where the winner will take home over $8,000,000!
Qui Nguyen started the day with twice the stack of his closest opponent, but he got off to a rough start and doubled up Michael Ruane (started day 2 with the smallest stack) already on the fourth hand. However, Nguyen remained out in front despite the early hit to his stack.

On July 9, Saturday, the 2016 World Series of Poker commenced. Overall 6,737 players shelled out the $10,000 entrance fee, thereby creating the biggest field of players since 2011. This 2016 is also the fifth-biggest Main Event in the history of WSOP.

27 players are all that are left after 9 days and 6,710 eliminations, and they will now get a few hours of rest before it's time to return for the final day of play (Day 7) before the 9-handed final table (where $8,000,000 is put aside for the champion) is set and the tournament is paused until November, 2016.

The 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event Championship is down to about 800 players after Day 3 concluded a few hours ago. Belgian poker pro Kenny Hallaaert (picture) bagged up 1.7 million and the chip lead, and not far behind him are some well-known faces - including Atonio "The Magician" Esfandiari with 1.3 million, Shaun Deeb with 1.2 million and Eugene Katchalov 1.2 million.

The $1,500 buy-in Millionaire Maker event ended early this morning after 4 days of intensive play. The tournament drew a field of 7,190 entries, the 8th biggest live tournament in poker history, and 32-year-old America poker pro Jason Dewitt received $1,065,403 and his second gold bracelet for being the last man standing - while runner-up Garrett Greer (also from USA) received $1 million as a "consolations prize".

Former Full Tilt Poker owner Howard Lederer released a statement via Daniel Negreanu's blog last month in which he, for example, apologised to the poker community and took full responsibility for Full Tilt's failure to protect player deposits leading up to Black Friday. Many believed that the timing of Lederer's statement had something to do with him wanting to return to the World Series of Poker this year.

On Sunday, 37-year-old American poker pro Robert Mizrachi took down the $10k Seven-Card Stud Championship for $242,662! The event attracted 87 entrants (4 players less than last year) and Mizrachi was crowned the champion after a winning a very thrilling heads-up battle against Matt Grapenthien, who won this event two years ago by overcoming a 4-1 chip disadvantage against Todd Brunson.
