Of course counting cards is not cheating, it is simply intelligence or skill. But the answer as to why it is considered cheating is easy: it is not business for the casino. They lose money to these people. If they didn't take it as a bad thing, everyone would want to count cards without problems.
Any "skill" that takes money from a casino will always be seen as a bad thing (or at least they will look for a way to do so).

Yeah , that's why some casinos , I guess the less important or smaller ones , they exclude from their properties the players who win a lot in their business , in their casino . This is totally unfair , first to say '' come , play and win big !!!'' then sb comes , plays , wins hundreds of thousands or millions of $$$ , then you tell him GTF out of here , go somewhere else , ban him for life . I think this is a sad practice when it comes to players with big winning rate agains tthe ''house'' , at least in the less important casinos , they can accuse you for anything and exclude you from playing there , going to courts for this ?? No good ...

I don't know if anyone saw the movie "Casino" with Robert De Niro. Pretty old today, but excellent. There he shows a casino manager, and how they make money, how they treat cheaters (although in the case they actually cheated) but also how they treat winners: They try to prevent them from leaving the casino and continuing to gamble and that form that the money returns to the casino (since by not leaving the casino, it is normal that you continue betting).

Undoubtedly a great movie, especially for all the cast and direction. I don't know if casinos actually work that way, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. What is true is that they do not like to lose (difficult for them to do it anyway) and before actions like these (counting cards) they put a lot of obstacles, when for me, there is nothing wrong.

Yes, all those you mention are good movies and there are many more interesting ones. In any case, I cannot compare them with Casino, which is far above those you mention. That at least in my opinion, there is nothing written about taste.
What is important is that movies from this branch continue to appear in the future

Technically they do not consider it cheating - it's just a method for players to lower the house's edge in certain situations which means on the long run the casino is going to lose money if they don't do anything against it.
And just like any establishment set out to entertain people they could refuse to service anybody for any particular reason whatsoever - in this case for card counting - which they most certainly do.
It's not really different from when certain night clubs or bars no longer give out drinks to drunk people.

they may not "technically" view it as cheating (since it really isn't). But they treat you like a cheater.
It is good that they reserve the right of admission, and I see it correct in the case that you mention someone who drinks a lot. But someone who counters cards should not be treated in the same way (simply because it does not harm or endanger other players, as if it could be the case of the alcoholic).

I saw this movie but it's not what i expected. It is more about certain events in the life of the main actor and another little things for two / three other characters. It says very little about poker and it doesn't matter too much. I expected more from this movie but it wasn't the case.

I have not seen it yet, so I can not comment, but if it is as you say, a pity. I hope to find a movie where poker is something main, since it has not been seen that for a long time.
But by the trailer, and what you say, I can get to be disappointed. Anyway when I can, I'll look at her.
Where did you see it?
