I very rarely chat and I never respond to anyone insulting me. If I ignore it they can't know what effect it is having. I don't go on tilt, either. As long as I get in the money, and if I win so much the better, I really don't care what anyone else does, whether they've insulted me or not. I don't know them and I have no feelings about them, either way.
Sometimes its so obvious what they are doing anyway. If I feel I have made the right decision, even when I lose the hand, I'm not impressed by someone telling me I can't play. They are the donks, not me. Lifes too short to worry about what idiots think

I love it when someone tries it with me, i'll act along. Making all my plays look like i'm targetting him/her. And when that nuthand comes its time to make the big "bluff"

Unsportsmanlike and poor etiquette in my opinion. I don't have chat disabled, and although no Chatty Cathy, I occasionally use, in a friendly manner. Also to let people know, that I know I got lucky, like I said occasionally.

i find that on games like ftp - or similar sites that don't have chat bubbles mostt people are to caught up in the game to even see what is being said...after 20 lines of the last few hands....chat gets lost...
I do more reading than chatting, just shoot out: nh, ty, lol, et. But I do get a good laugh when people go on tilt and start in on someone after losing a hand. I have learned some new sayings in life I would never have gotten without it.

Most people use the chat for slating people but it comes at a price i think as if your there typing you will unless you are a very fast typer miss thing that could be of interest like other peoples actions and bets you will have less time to act and generaly be at a disadvantage. I try to ignor the chat all together.
