EPT history
The European Poker Tour (EPT) started back in 2004 and has since then been a very popular televised poker tournament played all around Europe. In 1st-3rd season however the difference in prize pool and buy-in compared to other popular televised tours like WPT (World Poker Tour) were really big. Therefore EPT changed to a higher buy-in (around €8,000) in season 4 and this created bigger prize pools which attracted more famous poker players and TV viewers.
