WSOP - Final Table: He will throw away his bracelet if he wins

Tags: final table, Jeff Schulman, main event, november 9, wsop.
Posted on 21 July 2009 by "T".

One of the finalists in the main event of WSOP this year is so disappointed on how the tournaments have been organized this year that he said he will throw away his bracelet if he takes home the whole tournament. All this in order to make a statement and the with the hopes that things will improve in future world series of poker for other poker players.

Jeff Schulman, is the CEO for Cardplayer Magazine, one of the finalists in the main event, but most of all he's really, really angry at the crew behind this year's WSOP. Jeff says in an interview with poker magazine that he can't believe how bad WSOP was organized this year, and he wants to make it clear that this is not a revenge on the WSOP crew because they stopped the cooperation with Cardplayer Magazine a few years ago. Instead he hope that, throwing away something as priceless as WSOP Bracelet, will be a statement that hopefully will make it better for players in future WSOP events.

-" I love poker and signed up for the main event with hopes to win the tournament. But now the most important thing is to make the branch stronger and better for the players. And for that to happen, big improvements needs to be done"; says Jeff Schulman.

He should be really angry to do something like that if he wins. Can you imagine the short number of persons with a WSOP bracelet, and the amount of people that already payd in order to try to get one and couldnt got it? Its something many run after their all life without manage to reach it, and he is simply going to throw it away if he gets it...
I read about some problems in WSOP this year, with many players out of the tourneys because of the changes in the registering schedule. I would get mad if i travel from Portugal to Vegas just to play and someone told me: sorry, you are late. Try it again next year.
I subscribe Jeff Schulman's cause!

Short number? There were over 50 events at the WSOP this year alone. Every "pro", who has not won a bracelett after a few years in Vegas, is doing something wrong.
 Fakiry21/07/2009 14:47:20 GMT
Now compare those new 50 bracelet owners per year (if each event is won by a different player) with the 200 players that tryed out to get it in each event: 200x50=10.000 players per year. Don't you think 50 is a short number compared to 10.000?

Jeff, are you going to throw away the money prize as well? If yes, just whistle. I'll be around.
 mindhacker7621/07/2009 15:05:06 GMT
There were more than 6000 people in the main event this year, a lot more than 200, Fakiry...

Imagine sitting beside a 200 kg american in the audience and then the bracelet lands in your lap ... CRUNCH CRUNCH!

 dianakyra21/07/2009 15:52:00 GMT

It's clear - he is angry. But why? No word about what is wrong and what should be better.

I give him my vouch...
Its very hard to make a decision like this.
If he really win this year he can make an public sale for a good thing in africa maybe.....
He is a big man if he do this crazy move !

I don't really see what he's trying to prove or what he thinks he will prove by doing this. I mean he wins the tourny and throws away what is essentually the title/cup etc. In the end the WSOP organizers will just be thinking what we all are... what a fucking idiot.
And its not like he's chucking away something that is iriplaceable like the Stanley Cup or any other sporting award. I mean he throws it away the WSOP could not care less they''ll just make a new one like they do every year. Really the only person this is effecting is Jeff Schulman.
And to be honest I do see what the big deal is about ppl missing out on the WSOP main event. Day 1b had under 800 ppl yet over 2000 want to reg for day 1d. Like if u cant be bothered to pre reg for the tourny or don't see the possibility that u could miss out then its ur own dam fault. If I won a satterlite to the main event or had plan a whole trip to vegas around it the first thing i'd do is go reg for the tournment.
To me Jeff Schulman is as dumb as those idiots that showed up at the last possible moment and then complained when they missed out.

maybe hes just being controversal to get publicity for his magazine...........the more headlines he makes the bigger the pr exercise cardplayer magazine gets.
 Jodoli22/07/2009 10:48:51 GMT
He says that only to get attention. And ihe will sell it of course but to make money. And he probably he will use it to charitie only if he win one of the first three prizes! He will not toss it to the sea! of course not!
 SuperNoob22/07/2009 10:57:50 GMT
Throwing the bracelet is insulting the tournament. Why doesn't he throw his money instead.Hope he gets out at 9th place.Just trying to get some publicity for his Crapplayer magazine

He is definitely going to get peoples attention, if he does that it would open the door for him to speak his point and people will listen.

Bracelet is priceless. no $$ can match that

Liv ftw Heart
 Pjot08/09/2009 08:41:35 GMT
So... Where do I have to stand to get hit by this bracelet, if he wins? Would be nice to have one of those. Smile

And then maybe I can sue him for damages also, if I get brused! After all, I guess it will happen in the USA, where you can sue everybody for everything.

I do belive I got myself a get-rich-quick-plan here!
