World Champion holds tight to his money

About 2 weeks ago Jonathan Duhamel, 23, won the 2010 WSOP Main Event and became 8.9 million dollars richer. Now you might think that the new multi-millionaire has been celebrating and spending lots of money since the big win. NO NO! Jonathan Duhamel has not spent any money on himself, however, he recently donated about $100,000 to Montreal Canadiens Child Foundation, but apart from that he has taken it very easy and also taken a well-needed break from poker.

"I wont play anything for a few weeks, but after this I will play as many tournaments as I possibly can. All my life I have made a living from playing poker and now I have the chance to play in the biggest tournament", Jonathan Duhamel says in an interview.

"Not about the money"
"I dont't think much about the money, it was more about the bracelet. It was the world champion title that I felt most proud of. Of course I'm happy for the money as well but I will continue playing poker"

First Canadian to win a WSOP Main Event
"I'm very proud to be the first Canadain ever to have won a WSOP Main Event. Now I will do everything to become as good ambassador for poker as possible for my county. Hopefully my win will help other Canadian poker players to win big WSOP tournaments."

good for Jonathan holding on to his money. donating $100,000 to charit y is good. We dont know about our future so its better to save..

and this best move to give some money from huge prize that he won!very nice thing from him and just can say that all of this big winners should do something like this,instead they lost on poker like some player whos lost 3 million in couple of months!

it's a nice thing to do... even if he loses some of his money, i think he is worth idolizing... i don't know few pro's doing the same... Sad

Need a lot of luck 2 win WSOP i guess so how he got 2 final table does not matter i think Big Smile He does gr8 job something many of us only dream about ( no i do Big Smile ).. That sort of $$$$$ would be hard not 2 have big party but sounds like a smart boy, and i hope more ppl would give % of ther winnings that big 2 gr8 charitys like he has ( he could give another 100k cancer i say lol ).. I will be donating 10 % of anything over 100k if i happen 2 ever get that good Worship Worship ( am in the Aussie Millions fr final on a site an have about 1/300 chance of winning seat so look out here i come lol )..

Exactly! That is what floored me about Eastgate's action. Every serious poker player would see the winning of the bracelet as the pinnacle of their career. So far I am impressed with Jon's demeanor and what he has to say. For a young person he seems ahead of his years.

ah you have all kinds of people!huge number of poker pro's like more to win 1 bracelet,then 1 million,but ofocurse you have people who just want money!cant all people be same,somebody have to be different!
