Jason Mercier took the chip lead at the final table after that he had eliminated both Shawn Buchanan and Matt Glantz. However, he was not the only one playing fantastic poker at the final table and soon he had to give way for another player. Sam Stein, an American poker pro who has won close to 1,4 million dollars through his career, was for sure the best player at the final table. He made very few mistakes and always seemed to have a good read on his opponents.

Anyhow, when he and Mercier were the 2 last men standing, they had quite even stacks. It nearly took 4 hours before it all came to an end. The key pot in this heads up, which gave Jason Mercier a big lead (and also the win a few hands later), was actually a coin flip. Jason went all in with pocket threes and Stein called with ADiamondJDiamond. Stein flopped a pair of jacks and was the big favorite to take home the pot and the tournament, but Jason Mercier got really lucky as he made a straight thanks to lucky turn and river cards.

Final table results: (number of bounties next to prize money)

1st: Jason Mercier - $450,000 (7) Team PokerStars USA

2nd: Sam Stein - $75,000 (3)
3rd: Faraz Jaka - $80,000 (4)
4th: Matt Glantz - $70,000 (2)
5th: Shawn Buchanan - $80,000 (4)
6th: Luis "Bachy" Vazquez - $70,000 (4)

Just a few days ago i also was put away from Tony G Sunday Bike Ride with Ah Jh. Flop brought Qg 8h 6h, and my only oponent in this hand went all in. I was following him for a while and i knew he didnt have much. We were even in terms of stack and there still 15 guys to go away so we can reach prizes. I havent thought much and went all in too. He showed Qh 3c. Neither turn or river would bring me hearts or aces. I had more outs than him, but that was just not enough. Too bad for Stein too...

Mercier is a growing player, not long ago I saw a top ten best player in the world actually and I saw his name in that leaderboard...

So no surprise about his win there Worship

it a knock out bounty each time you knock out some one you earn a amount of money he got 7 so it normal that he make more money than some one that knock out 3 ppl

i was watching the live coverage and the knockout is just 5000$. But the point was imo, that it's almost like winner takes it all. Club

What a massive gap $450k for first place and $75K for second. Thats massive gap.
Still as it was HU i could see they'll get a big gap but still much more than norm.
Mercier is a class above really.
I've seen him play and he can.
Turn and river come to his rescue... how many times has that happened?
Still gutted for 2nd, Sam Stein.....
