Sam Farha tipped dealer $25,000

Tags: bobbys room, dealer, Sammy Farha, tip.
Posted on 05 May 2010 by "T".

Acccording to different rumors, Sammy Farha, the american poker pro, gave a $25,000 token/chip in tip to a dealer at Bobby's Room (Bellagio) in Las Vegas a while ago. The dealer was of course really happy and thankful and put the token/chip in her pocket straight away. However, it didn't take long before another player at Farha's table noticed what he did and asked him if he really wanted to give her $25,000 in tip? Sammy Farha then changed his mind and asked the dealer to give back his money.

At first, the dealer didn't want to give back the money. But Farha and some other poker players managed to convince her with 2 arguments. First off, they told her that she couldn't get cash for the token at any casino in the whole world. Secondly, they told her that she probably would have to check for a new job if she didn't return the token.

I dont get the fact that the dealer wouldnt have been able to cash it out. Was it because S Farha wanted it back or just casino policy?
I thought they got tips all the time - why get tipped chips you cant spend?
I also agree Farha is a bit of a dick over all this...... Blink
 undercash06/05/2010 12:55:25 GMT

 pmmalmeida06/05/2010 13:06:48 GMT

 dozn0109/05/2010 11:43:08 GMT

Wow what a horrible story. From the title of the article, I was ready to applaud Sammy for being so generous to the (presumingly) underpaid card distributor . . . obviously, what transpired in the article itself is borderline disgusting. Did Sammy not realize the value of the chip or straight Indian give?!?!? Either way, it's kinda bullshit.
 KingYertle17/05/2010 22:45:22 GMT
I hope he knows the value of his chips when is placing a bet !! Wants to make a small raise but accidentally put in half his stack.

I would like to become a poker dealer because it seems to pay off really well!

I think Farha should retire if he can not see those chip values Tongue

The guys so cheep i bet he wistles when he walks, laim and stupid is how i call that
The dealer should have said F U M8 you gave me that tip and i'm gonna keep it.
Yopu cant ask for things back when you've given them to some one...
Indian giver!
 Miloutre19/05/2010 10:08:57 GMT
Wouldn't bother me having to look for a new job if I was up 25k!
 dorinba19/05/2010 10:57:03 GMT
May be it was a joke or he want see the reaktion of dealer? or may be he make a mistake? But realy is not important now.
 SuperNoob19/05/2010 18:46:14 GMT
that was kinda harsh on dealer to be bullied like that by all the players after she was given that much tip. but she should have realized it in first place it was a mistake by sammy.
 NaziPal21/05/2010 09:57:18 GMT
I'm not really surprised to hear of this. Sam Farha has always projected to be a high roller. In my opinion, he is one of those pros who was helped to become one by his "high bankroll". Not to take anything away from him, but if you had the bankroll to play very frequently w/ old pros like Chris Fergusson, Helmuth, and Ivey and the like, wouldn't you eventually become a great player t00.
 leolook21/05/2010 21:29:48 GMT
Wooow, what a nice tip, I remember in the movie 007, when the bond tip gives $ 500,000 to the dealer, who envy! One day I will be a dealer of this tournament!
 watoba22/05/2010 01:53:14 GMT
farha is a dirty bitch and the other players too.He get enough money and when he give the chip to the dealer thats his own problem. And he can not say like a baby please give me the chip back.Hope he go broke for all time
 ibarra22/05/2010 08:08:49 GMT

The dealer must first confirm if the $25,000 chip if it is really for her, ask Sam if he would give the chip. The $25,000 chip is so big for a tip in a poker game.
 Aggro66622/05/2010 23:43:46 GMT
she should keep it in anyway, for Farha makes no difference...and with 25 000 she can survive a while until finding a new job
 rowdylad23/05/2010 23:12:17 GMT
it was done for publicity...and as u ca nsee by u lot talking bout it.its worked.
 kazman31/05/2010 22:30:41 GMT
Farhas mistake.
The dealer should not blame Farha, just kick the others player butt.

@ibarra
Still dont get it, why should she ask someone who playes for ton of money, wether the tip of 25K is for her? I mean, hes a pro and should know the woth of tips in front of him.
 teteban31/05/2010 22:49:04 GMT
I still don't get why it is that the dealer would be unable to cash the chip if she kept it...
Anyway, the dealer is at fault here; and besides she's already getting 10k from other players! I wish I had such a job!
 MicroMachina03/02/2012 02:19:11 GMT
the player prolly was pissed hes grinding for that coin and the girl just gets it. if this is true sammy is dumb and an indian giver.... hehe
 jovicakralj03/02/2012 08:19:24 GMT
I dont know good enough words in english to describe this Farhas action. I understand that he made a mistake and didnt want to give so big tip but to be such a jerk to bully dealer and to treat him that he will get fired is soooo low.

Yeah exactly... I'm pretty sure they could've convinced her to give the chip back some other way.

Anyways, I've watched almost every episodes of HSP and I wasn't surprised when I saw the title of this thread. But I was surprised when I saw that he asked for it back, it really isn't much for him, this guy has money (and luck) coming out of his a$$ Blink
