Last year's high stakes King Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates, was thursday morning challenged to a heads-up duel by a totally unknown Swede. The meeting evolved mildly surprising.
It's not every day that Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates looses 47 buy-ins on a single headsup session.
However, it is not every day that he moves down as 'low' as $ 25 / $ 50, but both were exactly what occurred against Swedish 'Lindqvro' thursday morning at Full Tilt Poker.
The meeting started out relatively quiet on four tables, where Cates in one hour won approx. $ 23,000.
Two hours later the Swede was ready for a new battle. Here the result was relatively trivial - a win of $ 2,000 to 'Lindqvro. "
But then they changed two tables again, and then things started to happen. From 10:50 to 13:30 the two players went at it, in a way which leads the thoughts back to the epic battles between Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom and Tom 'durrrr' Dwan in the fall of 2009.
At the end of the battle, the swede sat with a staggering $ 337,000 ($ 73,000 + $ 101,000 + $ 65,000 + $ 97,000) compared to jungleman12's approx. $ 64,000 ($ 23,000 + $ 32.000 + $ 5,000 + $ 4,000) divided into four tables.
Altogether 'Lindqvro' won approx. $ 235,000 from Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates over 2,427 hands. This corresponds to 47 buy-ins á $ 5,000.
It is not known who 'Lindqvro' is, but his style of play is pretty similar to Viktor Blom's. But since he signed a contract with Pokerstars, he is required only to play there. So the mystery still has to be solved.
