7 countries took part in Americas Cup of Poker at LAPT (Latin American Poker Tour) Punta del Este in Uruguay. After many hours of play, the Canadian team, led by returning team captain Greg DeBora - a well-known PokerStars Pro, took home the title after crushing Mexico in the final with 5-0. This is the second time Canada wins Americas Cup of Poker, and this year's title was worth $25,000.

"This is a really fun event because you're part of a team and you're representing your country. Everybody played hard and did well. Once again, Team Canada came through!" said DeBora after the win.

Here are the final results:
1. Canada - $25 000

2. Mexico - $20 000

3. Venezuela - $15 000

4. Brazil - $12 000
5. Argentina - $10 000

6. Rest of Latin America - $8000
7. Colombia - $5000

Nice! Its a tourney that its not just about the money prize (which is low, we have to admit) but, most important, is about representing the country. Now they can say canadian players are better than south americans. Beware of the canadian players at the online poker tables, mobsters! Blink

Ha ha, nice. Good going Team Canada, thanks for giving me the opportunity to win vicariously through you. Fakiry, you're probably right about the prize pool being low for such a professional level of play, but I know I'd take an opportunity on 25K if I could.

looks like a bit low profile tournament considering the big pros missing from it and USA not even making the top 7. but anyway congrats to winners Thumbs Up

Quite a few good Canadian poker players on the scene, and I have come across a fair number of very solid online players too. Must be the long cold winter nights giving us the time to be inside playing and working on strategy. I must say, it was a very gratifying tournament to be a part of.
