Hollywood writer and producer Matthew Salsberg who is known for his work on some very successful tv series like Weeds and Entourage, has recently announced that he is working on a new tv series project that will be set in the international poker circuit.
During an interview with Giovanni Angioni at the EPT San Remo, Salsberg unfolded the project that combines his two passions in life - writing and poker:
"...But right now I have a show in development that I’m working on and it’s about poker players so there is probably a mix of fifty people in the room that I could potentially put there".
Salsberg was later asked for more details on his upcoming tv project:
"It’s about guys in their twenties that travel the circuit playing poker. It’s going to be a comedy but sort of a pretty realistic one. Reasonably realistic, let’s say".
Matthew Salsberg is well-known for his skills around the poker table. His total live tournament winnings are close to $1,000,000. On September 10 this year, Salsberg won the Grand Prix de Paris WPT Event and left Paris with a bag of money weighing $545,115.
On the question whether he introduces himself as a poker player or writer/producer, Salsberg answered:
"I prefer writer, but a writer that plays way too much poker.
This is the thing. I spend more time playing poker than writing, but I've made more money writing than I did in poker. So it’s kind of twisted.
There is not THAT much point for me in playing poker on some levels but it’s such a fun game, very competitive. I love the game. Paris was a huge win and I always wanted to win a big tournament so that was pretty special".
Salsberg did not reveal when the new tv project will be on air.
