It ended up being an amateur who won the prestigious World Poker Tour LA Poker Classic! Sean Jazayeri went to the WPT Boot Camp with hopes of improving his game and maybe winning a $1,000 buy-in event. But things went really well for him and he decided to enter the Main Event for $10,000. After 5 days of play, he had made it to the final table with the biggest stack.
On the final table Jazayeri's plan was to wait it out until the two short stacks at the table busted. And it didn't take a long time until both short stacks had been sent to the rail. Now Jazayeri started getting worried that the more experienced players would catch up with him in the chip counts. But that didn't end up being the case as he knocked out the next player and created a monstrous chip lead over the remaining 2 players - David Sands and Dan Kelly. David Sands had the smallest stack and everyone expected him to go out next. But Sands managed to double up through both Kelly and Jazayeri and his stack kept on growing. Then it didn't take long before he knocked out Dan Kelly in 3rd place.
When the heads-up started, Sands had a small chip lead over Jazayeri. The heads-up match pretty much came to an end when Jazayeri holding A

in an all-in situation. An ace came on the flop and the turn and river cards were to no help for Sands. Jazayeri took home a huge pot and suddenly had a 11-2 chip lead. And the very next hand it all came to an end.
Both players went all in before the flop - Sands' holding K

and Sands' took the lead, but Jazayeri had a pair of fives. The J
on the turn kept Sands in the lead. In fact, Jazayeri could only take home the pot if a five or a queen would hit the river. Jazayeri must have asked the poker gods for help as another 5 came on the river and gave him the pot, the tournament and the first place prize of stunning $1,370,240! David Sands received $806,370 for his second place finish.
