Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst won the $2,500 Buy-in Six-Handed Ten-Game Mix (Event #52) this morning. The Yale University graduate and poker pro from New York City defeated a very tough field of players and now has a second WSOP gold bracelet and a whopping $244,259 in prize money in her bank account.

Selbst's first victory took place in 2008, in the $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha event, earning $227,933 and she was the only female player to win an open buy-in event that year. In fact, it took 251 tournaments (with exception from all Ladies Championships) until another women, Allyn Jaffrey-Schulman, won the record-breaking Seniors World Championship about 2 weeks ago.

Selbest now has 13 cashes at the World Series of Poker + two additional cashes at the WSOP Europe. Her total WSOP winnings are $1,103,572.

Final table payouts:
1 Vanessa Selbst $244,259
2 Michael Saltzburg $150,840
3 Tommy Hang $97,884
4 Chris Bjorin $64,649
5 Thomas Chambers $43,099
6 Mike Gorodinsky $30,169

Looking at the buy-in and the first prize, it makes me think that this event must have had a small field when compared to others. She received almost as much as the first time she won a gold bracelet back in 2008, and that has been a $1,500 buy-in tourney. Now in a $2,500 buy-in event, she only got more $17k… It’s always good to win, but when we invest more, we are also expecting to win more, if we happen to win.

But when there are less players you have a bigger chance of winning.
Getting through a field of 200 is easier then 2000 obviously.

It's still almost 1000x what was at stake. But yeah I agree in general, just when you come 1st 2nd or 3rd in small tourneys, that's the exception. But obviously that's harder to do and involves luck being on your side.

Sadamman ....its more like 100 x 2500 then 1000 x because then she would have 2.500.000

lol - who cares.

she has skills although from what i've seen she gets crazy aggressive and steams a bit, tough to play against i'll bet.

some acheivement for a woman in a male dominated field.

Big congratulations for Vanessa, i really think he is the best female pro poker player of the moment!

Also i like that she get this bracelet on such a complex game, i mean you need to master all games in order to come on top!

Probably my favorite female poker player. Glad to see her take it. Always liked watching her play on the "High Stakes" series and miss the show to be honest. We can all expect to see her excel to higher levels is my belief and could become one of the all time money makers in poker before she's through.

I don’t have a favourite poker girl pro but she is undoubtly the most mediatic female poker player, even more than Vanessa Rousso – and that one, I believe every guys around here will agree that has a lot of nice attributes.
