Last night, Eric Hollreiser, PokerStars' head of corporate communications, made the announcement that Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and the company have agreed not to renew his expired contract.
"In his short time as a poker player, Viktor has played against the biggest names in poker at the highest stakes in the toughest games. It's hard to recall a player who has kept the poker world so riveted at such an early stage of his career. We'll be watching with great interest and we wish him nothing but success." Hollreiser told PokerNews.
"I've enjoyed my time as a Team Pro and I wish everyone at PokerStars the best. Now I just want to concentrate on playing poker." said Blom.
Blom was signed by PokerStars in 2011 after playing the highest stakes at Full Tilt Poker under the alias "Isildur1" since 2009. The action was insane whenever Viktor Blom was playing ring games or heads up matches at Full Tilt Poker, and he was involved in many hands where more than half a million dollars was at stake. However, it was in 2009 that he and Patrik Antonius played the biggest pot in online poker history.
Now, Blom's biggest achivements as Team PokerStars Pro was winning 11 of his 14 matches in the SuperStar Showdown, and his win of the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Aventure High Roller for $1,254,000.
It will be interesting to see what Viktor Blom has planned for his poker future. Maybe we will see a comeback at Full Tilt Poker when it is open for business again? Time will tell!
