What a way to show his friends how important they are in his family, I bet some of them who were involved on the group of friends he was referring to even cried if they saw this video. Life isn’t just work, and even for such an important business man like Daniel Negreanu, which makes deals with big amounts of cash (what he can win in each tourney he plays), there are other things more important than money, and it’s important to never forget it.

The more I listen to this guy talk or tell his stories the more respect I gain for him. He definitely seems to be w whole hearted individual with morals and values that one can grow to respect.
Enjoyed the post / video and listened to it all. I guess once you've reached the finanacial status to make the right decisions such as he did and, if one has a conscious to do so, it makes you feel good to chose life relationships (friends & family) over money. Good Choice!

Daniel keeps earning, day by day, a greater amount of respect from myself. Values and commitment, as he said, wasn't always a top priority for him and he has realized that, and now he can make this decision in a pretty easy way -it insn't a dilema anymore-. Sure we all would have enjoyed watching him play the NBC Heads-up tournament -even himself-, but at this moment he respecfully decided otherwise.
Good for him and his friends, in the future he'll have tons of opportunities to play tournaments, but you have to take care of what you think is important in the present. It's a pretty clear message, if you ask me.
Good luck to all!

Daniel is taking more time in front of the camera than at the table poker were the competition is to much for him .He has a path to promote the game than the winning the game at real action. All for the Show is his motto

Where can I find the video that explains his reason for dropping out. If anyone knows where to find it perhaps they could post a link here?

Quarter finals • Daniel Cates vs. Scott Seiver • Mike Matusow vs. John Hennigan • Eugene Katchalov vs. Phil Hellmuth • Brian Hastings vs. Joe Serock The way that the bracket works means that is very possible we could see a Matusow vs Hellmuth final, which would surely be the TV poker event of the year.
