The televised final table at the World Poker Tour Montreal Main Event concluded yesterday with Derrick Rosenbarger as the champion! Rosenbarger, from Clovis, New Mexico, began the final table in 5th place and was well behind chip leader Sylvain Siebert (8.4m), Serge Cantin (6.9m) and Mukul Pahuja (5.9m).

However, the poker gods treated him very well and he made it to heads-up against the experienced poker pro Mukul Pahuja after several hours of play. Pahuja was way out in front with 17.6 million against Rosenbarger with 8.2 million. Rosenbarger managed to double up almost straight away, and then he doubled up again to overtake the lead - only 25 hands into the heads-up match! Even though Pahuja managed to double up on Hand 129, Rosenbarger kept the lead until the final hand...

Hand 152:

Rosenbarger bet 600k preflop and Pahuja shoved his remaining 6.9 million. Rosenbarger quickly called and turned over two queens. Pahuja showed ADiamond4Diamond. The board ran out 9Heart6Diamond3Club4Spade2Heart and Rosenbarger was crowned the newest member of the WPT Champions Club and received a first prize of $500,824!

Final Table Results:
1: Derrick Rosenbarger - $500,824
2: Mukul Pahuja - $340,928
3: Serge Cantin - $220,170
4: Sylvain Siebert - $162,936
5: Lily Kiletto - $121,848
6: Alexandre Lavigne - $98,574

Well done to Derrick Rosenbarger for winning this tournament and picking up $500,824. Great to see that Lily Kiletto moved up one place to fifth and she got an extra $23,000 for doing so. Well done to all

Hmm nice win just in time for the december month, he might use the money to party a lot and if I were to win at this time of the year I will surely party like there is no tomorrow with the cash I gained.

Anyway Congrats to Derrick, hope he keeps up his game for the future. Big Smile

Thats one tasty first place win.
To shove with A4s seems a bit loose in that spot but I guess the big stack is often pressing to win the blinds and when they do have a monster you can't really tell. Luck of the draw really.

The canadian wpt is one of the interesting live station at this tour. And behind the ept the wpt series is on of the best live series ever. Ok, the wsop is the biggest tourney, but the buy ins for the wpt is payable also for semi pros.

Congratulations once again for Derrick for his result but i must admit that he also had luck on the last HU hands that he played.

Also a big congrats to Lily for the 5th place, i think no one thought that she will go so far in this tornament.
