World number on tennis player Rafa Nadal will play his first live poker tournament this week! Nadal will be competing for a €100,000 charity prize pool (as part of the European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague poker festival) together with several well-known faces, including Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko, Italian skier Alberto Tomba, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu, and Brazilian football legend Ronaldo! The latter is someone who the 27-year-old Spaniard seems especially eager to play against...

"Ronaldo has always been a hero of mine and I'm looking forward to taking him on at the poker table," Nadal said in statement last week. "The great thing about poker is that it's a common ground for us to compete on, and there are many similarities between sport and poker strategy, so it will be good to see how he translates his game from the football field to the poker felt."

Hehe good promotion, Nadal versus Ronaldo, will be fun to watch. There is 4 new players versus a pro lol, it will be unbalanced, but I think if he wins or loses he will get a great paycheck from being sponsored. Nice event and promo!

Cant wait to see that,i guesss that Negreanu is winning this.

Actually don't like at all these promo movements from PokerStars. All we know is number one platform in the world, better than these promo's is to look up how the play will be more fair without so many suckouts and not this way.The only thing i may like this tourney is that is made for a verry good reason, nothing else!Hope charity will be part of gambling world and not only in Christmas and so on.And who knows people may realise that poker doesn't belong to gangs or something like that.

I wanna see the Nadal face when Ronald hit a terrible runner-runner straight flush ahahha.
Anyone knows when this tournament is going to be played? Will be any chance to watch it on internet???????????? I got the feeling that Negreanu will not win.

Nadal and Ronaldo played already in promotion video clips against each other. Is a show ,like Daniel Negreanu is doing a lot from many years.Circus,Pokerstars pay them all,so no real emotion about wining or losing money there

Daniel Negreanu must be licking his lips waiting to play this table. I cant see how he can lose with a fair run of the cards. Must be great for Nadal to play these guys and it will be interesting to see how he gets on

Interesting table. But then if it's a charity event then that makes all the difference. Do these players play for the winnings or for themspnsorship and the exposure to a wider audience that comes Witt this type of game? Suppose it will be a laugh and good entrainment.

Even if this is for charity i hope that they will play this really seriosly. It would be very interesting to see someone that basically lives out of poker like Daniel to play with these big sport names.

If he also gets a bit of luck he should quickly lead this table Smile

A good poker player takes every tournament they compete in seriously whether it be a freeroll, buy in or even a small prize sng. Great that its for a good cause I play my best regardless of what the stakes.

Now that this charity tournaments over(won't mention the winner) anyone know where or when I can see a replay as I missed the live version and it would be a fantastic watch!

So, Rafa won. Was this a piece of marketing genius or am I just über cynical? But then again, Rafa has had loads of time to hone his poker skills lately so maybe it should nt be such a surprise that he took this tourney down. Nice job PS.
