The final table of PartyPoker Premier League is getting closer and closer as 3 of 4 heats in Group A have been completed. The former world champion Jonathan Duhamel took down the first heat, Daniel "Jungleman" Cates the second one and Antonio Esfandiari won the third heat.
Here is the overall Group A standings:
1st. Jonathan Duhamel (31 points)
=2nd. Sam Trickett (19 points)
=2nd. Antonio Esfandiari (19 points)
=4th. Jungleman (18 points)
=4th Phil Hellmuth (18 points)
6th. Daniel Negreanu (16 points)
7th. Scott Seiver (15 points)
8th. Marvin Rettenmaier (14 points)
Duhamel's 31 points guarantees him a seat at the final table. A win for anyone of the other players equals a final table ticket, a second place finish for any of the top six should also be enough for a spot at the final table.
Here's how it works
A total of 16 players buy-in for $125,000 each and are devided in two groups with each player competing for points over four heats ($2,000 per heat). The top 3 players from the 2 groups will advance automatically to the final table and the 4th and 5th finishers in each group will play each other head-up in a best-of-three format for the last 2 spots at the final table (8-handed). The winner of the tournament will take home $450,000.
