The first starting flight of PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour Main Event drew 116 entries, including big names such as Team PokerStars representative Jake Cody (busted), 2012 EPT San Remo winner Rupert Elder (41,300) and Max Silver (busted), who has 2 UKIPT titles to his name since 2010.

After eight levels of play the Day 1A field had been reduced from 116 to 55 players, and Leon Luis (picture) is the chip leader with 122,700 chips. Luis has live tournament results dating back to 2007, but it's at online poker he has made his biggest tournament cashes including a 8th place finish in the 2013 WCOOP Main Event for $159,975! Besides tournaments, he plays a lot of hyper-turbo heads-up sit and gos ($100-$300 buy-ins) on PokerStars.

Day 1B starts at noon and the tournament will continue over the weekend until a winner has been crowned. We will be back with a final table recap on Monday morning!

I live in Edinburgh, didnt know this was on.

One day I'd like to have a pop at one of these events when they come to Scotland. Need a bigger bankroll Smile

Its good to see that the event can attract some solid names as well. Scotland isn't an exotic location but Edinburgh is a great city.
