The first starting flight of PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour Main Event drew 116 entries, including big names such as Team PokerStars representative Jake Cody (busted), 2012 EPT San Remo winner Rupert Elder (41,300) and Max Silver (busted), who has 2 UKIPT titles to his name since 2010.
After 5 days of play at the Aussie Millions, the first Gold Ring of 2013 was awarded to Ruper Elder. The British poker pro, who won the 2011 EPT San Remo Main Event, bested a field of 1,338 entries in the $1,100 Opening Event and had to overcame 1 former EPT champion and the defending champion in this event, Aussie Brendon Ruble, on the final table. It was a well-deserved win by Elder who now adds $250,000 to a resume that already features over $1.5 million in tournament winnings!
It ended up being the Englishman Rupert Elder who took down the EPT San Remo Main Event and laid hands on the first prize of €930,000, a place in the Champion of Champions event, and a gold bracelet worth €16,200.
Elder arrived at the final table with just about 8 million chips and had a small lead over Max Heinzelmann. Both of them continued playing fantastic poker on the final table and they remained in the top until they were the last 2 men standing. Both players had an easy, genuine respect towards each other, having shared dinner several times during the week in San Remo.
After 6 days of play, the EPT San Remo final table is finally set! Below are the 8 finalist who will battle it out today in order to make it all the way to the title and the first place prize of €930,000.
