Eric Afriat68 of 328 players are "alive 'n' kicking" after two days of play at World Poker Tour World Championship (sponsored by PartyPoker) in Atlantic City, USA. The chip leader is Eric Afriat (Champions Club) with 1,003,000 and he's well ahead of the rest of the field.

In fact, Afriat is about 430k ahead of his closest competitor: Anthony Gregg (567,000 - Champions Club). Besides Gregg, notables such as Scott Seiver (539,500 - (Champions Club) and Jason Koon (505,500) bagged up nice stacks at the end of Day 2. However, the biggest poker star in the competition is Phil Hellmuth, though, the 13-time World Series of Poker champion needs to fight hard to stay alive during day 3 as he only has 54,000 left to work with.

Day 3 will begin at 12:00 p.m. ET. The plan is to play down to a field of 27 but plans could be adjusted depending on the peace of play, according to WPT's website. You'll find another brief update here tomorrow morning!

Imagine what Phill Hellmuth would be like if he does somehow manage to win this thing!! I cant see him doing it from where he is but i really hope that he can. Good luck to all those still playing

haha i would love phill hellmuth to wins it from being a huge underdog and he will surely brag about it when he does and I love when he does his arrogant attitude infront of the media and so on. He is a likeable chap so would like him to win but not sure that he will and chip leaders are kind of curse for me! So Afriat will not win!

Watch Hellmuth get it in double up and go on to win it...
Some chip lead for the front runner - very hard to keep it going though, plus not sure how much experience he has.

Hellmuth is a funny guy, great winner, but a bad loser.

His explosions are so well known. Big Smile

Eric has a massive lead if you ask me on this point and i'm pretty sure that even it's relatively early in this tournament with a bit of luck he can keep this position all the way to the end Blink

I'm sure BRM will keep us posted on how this event will unfold Smile

The WPT poker series growth every year and was one of the best in the world in the moment. This was a dream for evrey poker Player with a low poker budget, to play in one wpt or ept live tourney one time.

The real dream of every poker player is to win an EPT or WPT tourney,

playing an 5000€ event and getting busted before the money would make me only angry.
