Ben Affleck Banned From Las Vegas Casino's Blackjack Tables

Before filming the new Batman movie, Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Garner headed to Las Vegas for the weekend. According to numerous reports, the married couple went to Hard Rock Casino on April 29 trying their luck at the blackjack tables.

Besides being a decent poker player, Mr. Affleck apparently is pretty good at counting cards in blackjack. The fact is he won $800,000 in one single session of the game at Hard Rock Casino back in 2001. That time witnesses saw him, at the age of 29, give $150k away to dealers and waitresses in the high-roller lounge.

So, how did his blackjack session go this time at Hard Rock Casino? Well, as the title suggests, he did very well as he reportedly was asked to leave the table by security staff, who then got him and Jennifer a car back to their hotel. There have been a few rumors that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were banned from the casino, but those rumors are completly false.

"Ben got banned from playing blackjack, not the casino," an insider revealed to HollywoodLife magazine. "They allowed him to play other games if he wanted. The security said we have to stop you because ‘you are to good.'"

Additionally, the Hard Rock Casino released a statement saying that he's invited back at anytime.

This is almost a week old story. You are late into the party! Big Smile

Counting is not that hard, once you've got your practice, but even if you are doing it as a small timer with petty cash, they will evetually recognize why you are betting big whenever the deck heat up. Also, why would a multi-million dollar movie star bother doing this is beyond me, but hey gambling could be addictive even for rich people.

It always saddens me when casino's ban people for what it seems like the only thing they did wrong was win. Good luck to Ben Affleck i say and i hope he wins big again somewhere else

Exactly, they just don't like paying out.

haha yeah banned from black jack though house is supposed to have an edge guess Ben is lucky or just can grind out an edge on black Jack it is possible if you know maths and so so. Also nice from the casino to banned him just because he is good. It shows blackjack is beatable if you try to. But too much hassle!

It seems harsh to ban someone for being good at the game but think about the implications if they didn't.

Card counting is not that difficult a skill to master and if it was allowed there would be a lot of people doing it. The casinos would be hemorrhaging money and would have to close or stop offering blackjack.

So it's a choice of either ban card counting or close the blackjack tables.

So if you are lucky and you are winning, you are banned from the casino. According to this logic the casino doesn´t want anybody to win there, they want only people who are losing their money.
Greedy scumbags!

It seems incredible that casino's are allowed to kick people out becuase they are winning. It seems more bizarre the more you think about it. But, any shop you go into reserves the right not to sell you the things on display, so I guess it's along the same lines in a casino - we will allow you in here but if we want we can stop you playing.
 zeroster06/05/2014 22:41:46 GMT
Nope, people don't get banned from casinos for being lucky and winning they get banned for using a strategy that gives the player, rather than the house, an edge. Totally different thing.

I'm not trying to defend the casinos I'm just being realistic. If they didn't do this they wouldn't be a profitable business and soon there would be no casinos at all.

so your saying it's ok for the house to have an edge but the player can't.
not nice at all. imo

Of course it's not nice it's a business. If they stop making money and start losing it they close. It's as simple as that.

Bottom line is if card counting was allowed all the casinos would go bust.

Of course the player can´t have an edge,

but they can´t ban every player who is lucky enough and wins something.

Exactly, if your playing optimal strategy that's fine the house still has an edge albeit a very slight one but once the player starts counting they tip the edge in their favour and the casinos can't allow it. It would be like selling $100 items for $99.99 it doesn't sound like much but eventually you go bust.

Really? This sounds like a joke, he won 800k with black jack in only one session? Or only in a new movie? Perhaps he changed his carreer to a black jack pro- gl at the tables ben Big Smile
 ddblt197010/05/2014 07:59:33 GMT
I don´t think he needs money that much,

that he would try to cheat in a casino. Big Smile But maybe he did it for fun. Nobody knows. (except for him)
 xxxperv25/05/2014 15:30:10 GMT
casinos should be banned from banning. They make billions and when someone takes a little back they get banned. If I ever got banned I would use the winnings to sue the bastards.

so what you are saying is that Casinos rip off their players. Shut them down then!

No, what I'm saying is that casinos aren't a public service they are profit making businesses. No profit no casin0. I'm amazed people find that so hard to understand.

Too good at black jack yeah right. You can make the right decisions everytime and lose everytime you bet big. Luck is always a factor. Maybe if they wait enough he goes broke Blink

God damn it Ben

Why did you not just stick to Batman?

You had one good damn job, a hot beautiful wife, a life any man will die for. Why do you always have to mess things up?

Well, you did not mess things up, you are just proved how good at maths you are. Counting cards is not for everyone, only the smart ones can do it.

God damn it Ben, God damn it.

 Macubaas26/05/2014 19:45:49 GMT
I have to agree that it would have been a fantastic thing if we could just stick to batmon and stay away from problems for now...

Now i hope that this won't affect his career too much or the projects in which he is involved right now.
 ddblt197001/06/2014 11:42:22 GMT
I wonder how did this thing end.

Does somebody know?
 Bachir02/06/2014 16:59:17 GMT
No idea, i'm trying to find more info about this story.. Will report back if I find something interresting..

Probably the casino saw that they were only embarassing themselves.

And they quietly closed the case...

Probably settled with lifetime HRH suite comp offer.

G'day mates

Well I do remember reading about this a while back.
Does anyone know if Ben has actually been back to the casino in question?
I would be interested if he has chosen to take his gambling elsewhere.
wishing you all the best
be cool

If your playing optimal strategy and you are the last of 5 players at an online site you have some edge at blackjack. So you will be banned???
