Day 1 of the second-ever $1,000,000 BIG ONE for ONE DROP came to a close just an hour ago. A total of 42 players entered the tournament for $1,000,000 each and 31 will return tomorrow and fight for a slice of the $37,333,338 prize pool (top 8 players will get paid).

Sam Trickett bagged up the biggest stack with 13.4 million in chips at the end of play. The British poker pro's closest challenger is Tom Hall with 9,125,000, so don't be surprised if he scores another big payday like in 2012 when he finished runner-up to Antonio Esfandari in the first edition of this tournament.

The remaining players are fighting for a first-place prize of $15,306,668! - just about 3 million less than when Antonio Esfandari bested a field of 48 millionaires in 2012 - 28 of them were fellow poker players - including the game's premier talent.

Here are the top 10 players after Day 1:

This is one hell of a tournament with some of the worlds' very best players.Looking further down the leaderboard you see in 11th place Eric Seidel,13th place is Tobias Reinkemeier,Juanda,Lindgren,Merson,Seiver etc.
I would hate to have to predict a winner but I saw an interview with Phil Ivey and he sounded like he really wanted to win this, and I would not bet against him but Trickett with that chip stack will be a force to be reckoned with.

Cheers see this is why the best players are the best, in the big event we always see them at the top but for this tournament it can be biased as not the every day man can afford this huge buy in and most likely just the handful pros can afford to do so, so a huge field in terms of quality and we can have some good action going all around. Cheers love that big drop tourney lots of quality players fighting for the crown!

This is the one tournament where all these big name poker players want to do well just to have the bragging rights over their fellow pro's plus the $15,000,000 first prize is not too bad!!!

update--Ivey and Trickett are OUT.
Rick Salomon is leading with Tobias Reinkemeier in second place,Negreanu and Seiver are still in the running.
It is on the bubble at the moment and 8th place gets $1.3million so that is going to be one hell of a disappointment for one of the players, currently the lowest stack is Paul Newey with 10BB,he is a UK businessman,I think he is very very rich so maybe he will not be as disappointed as most players.

Not a very good summer for Sam. I would've hoped for him to cash in this event. Or win it this time !
