In September last year, police raided Aviation Club de France, a more than hundred year old casino on one of Paris' finest addresses, and brought 12 persons into custody after allegations of breaches of employment law and money laundering.
Among the people who were taken into custody were several employees and the Director of the Games Committee Marcel Francisci, a figure of the Corsican politics who is close to France's former president Nicholas Sarkozy.
The casino was placed in judicial proceedings in November 2014, but no renewal of its gambling license has been made after. Last week, The Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris broke the news that the historic casino and poker club had been placed in liquidation.
Aviation Club de France opened as a private club in 1907 and turned into a gambling place in 1925 (poker was introduced in 1995). It will surely be missed by many poker players, given that it hosted many major poker tournaments - including some stops on the World Poker Tour.
