The 5th edition of the WSOP National Championship found its winner on Friday at Harrah's Cherokee in Cherokee, N.C. Loni Hardwood, who began the final table with a big chip lead, earned her second WSOP gold bracelet and $341,599 for her victory.
Hardwood earned her first bracelet two years ago in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event at the WSOP in Las Vegas. That summer she cashed six times, including three final tables and winning one bracelet. In total, she earned $874,698 at the 2013 WSOP - more than any other women has earned at a single World Series. In addition to the two bracelets, she won two WSOP Circuit rings in 2012.
Loni Hardwood thanked her brother after the latest victory. "I wanna shout out to my brother, Scott Harwood. He's one of my best friends. He's always there for me. He wanted to be here today, but he works and he couldn't get the day off. He's been on the virtual rail and I'm sure he's waiting for a phone call right now."
Daniel Negreanu, who participated in the National Championship for the first time, entered the third and final day in third place but ended up being eliminated already in 6th place. Negreanu lost most of his chips before the first brake, and he was eliminated shortly after the break. We wish him better luck next time on catching bracelet #7!
