WPT Montreal: Mike Sexton Wins His First WPT Title!

Mike Sexton grabbed his first WPT title and C$425,980* ($317,896* USD) in prize money early this morning after besting a field of 648 entries over several days of play in the WPT Montreal Main Event! But it wasn't a smooth journey to the title for the Poker Hall of Famer and WPT commentator.

Sexton finished Day 2 and Day 3 with under 20 big blinds before finally managing to accumulate a big and healthy stack on Day 4 to lead the way into the 6-handed final table. He then had to fight Benny Chen over 157 hands in heads-up play, and most of the time things weren't going his way.

Sexton never gave up, though, and managed to take a small chip lead late in the night before picking up two queens and winning an all-in against Chen's king-jack. Sexton flopped top set and dodged a gutshot straight draw to capture his first WPT title!

Season XV WPT Montreal Final Table Results:

1st: Mike Sexton - C$425,980* ($317,896* USD)

2nd: Benny Chen - C$286,110 ($213,515 USD)

3rd: Nadir Lalji - $183,320 ($136,806 USD)
4th: Ilan Boujenah - C$132,750 ($99,067 USD)
5th: Ema Zajmovic - C$102,010 ($76,127 USD)
6th: Jake Schwartz - C$81,740 ($61,000 USD)

*First-prize amount includes a $15,000 seat into the season-ending WPT Tournament of Champions.

wow what a sexy win for the sexiest man on earth - mike SEXton himself, he had a very sexy tournament right from the off and was spotted sexually harassing all of his opponents without even taking their race, religion or gender into account. awesome performance dude.

I was very surprised that he managed to do if ... I honestly do not believe that he will win this tournament ... Well I was wrong, and that's good, because once again I was convinced that poker can occur most incredible event and everyone has a chance

Hehehe congratulations to the poker legend that is Mike Sexton!

I thought he already had won one back in the days but I guess he finished 2nd or third! He has always been one of my favorite analysts and definetly the best at some point in the begining of the years 2000. This just shows how it's never too late to go for big wins Smile

I hope he will have a Ton of Sex after this. I dunno if Montreal has high end strip joints/red lamp district but he should just invite a couple gals over his hotel suite and making it rain for them.

I am absolutely amazed that this guy ha sneer won a wpt title previously. It just goes to show that there is so much opportunity for everyone out there and we should all take confidence that such a great guy has gone so long without winning such a title. Well done to him and good luck to you all in your adventures in the world of poker.

I'm verry surprised about that news, because he is verry good live poker player. He is a part of the poker business since a long time and we can saw him in a lot of poker tv shows. But it was nice to see that he never give up and try it verry often to win.

I have just watched the final table and I have to say that Mike Sexton played really well. he was selective and agressive when he needed to be. Seems like aging has done well for this old fox. Blink

I think he can win more if he plays more. This win should motivate him to try and teach the youngsters a lesson of perseverence Blink Good luck Mike Sexton!

Impressive victory for the hall of fame poker broadcaster I was sure he had more titles under his belt but either way him getting his first one is very impressive and great for him I hope his successes continue down the line Big Smile

now the thing on my mind is that after mike sexton won his forts wpt title in wpt montreal event and got a ton of sex afterwards, it's about time for him to prove the watching world that he is a heck lot more than just bag of sex and to win his 2nd wpt title or at least 360 dudes $0.10 sng @stars.

The second option seems more managable tbh but it will not guarantee good amount of sex for him afterwards. Unlike winning another WPT would do... Blink

I watched the whole final table. Benny completely crushed Mike heads up. He would grind Mike down to 6 or 7bb then Mike would win and all in sometimes well behind and sometimes well ahead. This proceeded to happen 4 times in the heads up battle. Then when Mike had around 18bb to Benny 12bb he wakes up with queens against king jack.Good to see Sexton addying a WPT title to his poker career.
