Anthony Chimkovitch, from Belgium, had an incredible run on Day 3 of the EPT Barcelona Main Event. The 23-year-old showed the experience of a long-time pro and managed to turn 144k in chips into a massive stack of 1.8 million! Chimkovitch was the first player to cross the 1 million chip mark, eliminating players such as US pro Chance Kornuth (close to $4.5 million in tourney earnings) along the way.
A total of 294 players returned for Day 3 on Thursday but only 98 of them will return today for another day of battle. The biggest names still in the competition include Jason Mercier (1,006,000), Bryn Kenney (728,000), Byron Kaverman (442,000), Jason Koon (424,000) and Eugene Katchalov (215,000).
Start of Day 3 chip leader Nicolas Chouity will also return today. The Lebanese poker pro won the EPT Monte Carlo Main Event in 2010 and now has the chance to join Victoria Coren in the history books as the second player ever to win two EPT Main Event titles. Unbelievely enough, Chouity is not the only former Main Event winner left in the competition - Jason Mercier, Michael Eiler, Kent Lundmark and Ronny Kaiser will also be competing for a second Main Event title!
You will find a final table recap here in the news section on Monday morning. Happy weekend, everyone!
