Czech Republic poker pro Vladimir Burstein went to Montesino Casino in Austria to play cash games but changed his mind and decided to play the €115 buy-in partypoker LIVE Grand Prix Austria Main Event instead.
It turned out to be a profitbale decision, as he ended up winning the whole thing for a €47,520 payday, which doubled his total live tournament earnings! Burstein told PokerNews.com that he has played professionally for about 2 years and that he usually goes to Vienna (Austria) once a month to play live games - except during the summer months when he's grinding away in Las Vegas.
The tournament had multiple starting days that were played in thirteen different locations. All in all, the tournament drew a field of 5,230 entrants creating a prize pool of €507,310.280. Due to a five-handed deal on the final table, the lion's share of the half a million euro prize pool actually went to native poker player Martin Lechner, who finished in second place for €48,530.
