This year's Jennifer Harman Celebrity Poker Tournament scheduled today, November 10, Friday, at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino shall be once again witness to some of the world's top poker players along with celebrities from the Las Vegas Strip, the world of sports, and from Hollywood, and this event's main purpose is to benefit the no-kill animal rescue effort of the Nevada SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
This event brings together poker pros and celebs on Planet Hollywood to raise money for a good cause.
This charitable poker event features a buy-in worth $200, with a single and double re-buy and add-on options for $50 and $100 respectively.
If you wish to join, you can RSVP to save a seat at www.nevadaspca.org. The buy-in is to be paid at Planet Hollywood on the day of the event. The top ten finishers will receive prizes: second place gets $3,000, third place gets $2000, and the emerging champ will be generously rewarded a $10,000 entry into next summer's 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event.
Nevada SPCA president and acting director Kathy Jung emphasized the importance of this annual tournament event and expressed how it is a major fundraiser for the Las Vegas No-Kill shelter, "To date, with Jennifer Harman hosting these tournaments, we've been able to raise over a million dollars. This money goes towards our mission of rescuing the homeless and neglected animals in Nevada and the tri-state area [California and Arizona]. It is largely thanks to Jennifer's kindness and generosity that we are in the process of building a new Nevada SPCA campus, currently in Phase One. We couldn't be where we are today without her help, and that of other notable poker stars like Daniel Negreanu."
The Nevada SPCA believes in their advocacy that every life is precious. Entirely funded by private donations, the Society runs a no-kill shelter in Las Vegas for animals which have been abused, neglected or abandoned, or otherwise face danger and homelessness. It strives to provide medical care, rehabilitation and adoption services for hundreds to thousands of animals yearly and aim to place them in loving, forever homes.
Aside from the 52-year-old Jennifer Harman who is the host, the tournament shall also feature several celebrities. Some of those who confirmed to attend were prop poker player Andy Bloch, author and TV host/producer Zak Bagans of "Ghost Adventures", actress Julie Benz of "Dexter", actress Charisma Carpenter of "The Expendables", master magician Lance Burton, actress and model Shanna Moakler, actress Clare Kramer of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer", poker pros Chip and Karina Jett, and three-time WSOP bracelet winner Jeff Madsen.
