You have to raise a lot of money to pay your demands, so be supportive and pay any subscription. Hehehehe

Everything in this world ends sometime ... so I came to the end of the site of a famous poker player ... probably because not a lot of people paid a subscription ... and site maintenance is probably more expensive than money for a paid subscription ... ok

Probably no money made from this business so he decided to clise, no reason to keep a business enuch is not productive. He is a big name in poker so decided that he can use this and make money, but did not happen this time, maybe not good enough videos?

Not surprising that something of his failed. With all the late stories someone would only expect this as a next move for him to come.
His trend must be going downwards lately. But no matter what he still has a fortune

Yes i have to agree with you guys and girls that Ivey has got himself in a downwards trend and looks like he will have tough time in regaining his fame as one of the best poker players in the world. I think he should go to some quiet place, meditate, do some yoga poses and think of a new career for himself

I guess most people are reluctant to pay subscription fee to gain knowledge of poker when there are numerous contents freely available from prominent professionals on YouTube, PokerTube, Twitch, etc.
|
waoz | 17/04/2017 20:51:41 GMT |
Very true dear friend, hit the nail ... there are many books, videos and content totally free and for such reason nobody would pay a subscription can get them free and on the other hand this professional is in decline and have not seen as a good example, I would particularly only pay classes or subscriptions with the legend Doyle Brunson

Probably the server costs alone ate most of their net income after the initial signup craze ended and people made siterips etc. Its just no longer viable as a business especially with all the bad publicity Phil Ivey have gotten with his court case.

hemuli | 17/04/2017 22:26:45 GMT |
Little bit different contents on youtube/twitch then on a subscription sites.. I paid few months on other site and they go a lot deeper with analysis than what you get from youtube.. and most of the youtube/twitch, are pretty straight forward stuff. Not saying it is bad, for sure you learn a lot.. no one gives you for free informations. Why would they?

Yeah, but if you spend the same amount on some kind of personal coaching u might end up dealing better with that experience than just watching videos in and out every week about other people shortcomings.

wasnt he making a client called 'ivey poker' i know it started as play money but he had 'pros' even and was meant to move into playing for real money - did they ever happen?
------------ also something like this you cannot rely on just a name. i never knew about this content he was producing, so maybe he should of done some marketing or use youtube in terms of putting lil bits of videos to get a taster. never been star struck by him though - maybe he doesnt have as big of a fan base as he believed

This must have passed me by because i have never heard of this. I thought this would be extremely popular, imagine getting lessons from the great Phil Ivey and an insight into how his poker brain works

I think it was a good idea, he was a big name in poker, so naturally he tried to make the most out of this, but I think he was a little bit too late to the party and probably there were not enough customers in the end to keep the business going. Still it was a nice try.

I agree totally that 1on1 coaching is a lot better than any video out there. Some site offers 10d/month which is for sure a great value for micro/lowstakes, cant really find anyone decent to make as low as 10d/h coaching.

Did'nt last all that long openend the site 2014 and only 3 years later they're gone again would be interesting to know how much money they dumped into this site

hemuli, your screenname sounds familiar. Weren't (Aren't) you a serious mid stakes MTT/STT grinder on PokerStars? I thought I saw your name on the leaderboard of poker ranking site. Maybe I am mistaken.
|
hemuli | 20/04/2017 10:06:37 GMT |
MTT I suck on fulltilt I was grinding a lot sng's and after break sng were kinda dead on the mid/high stakes and moved to spins and now grinding only spins on other site.. Now that pokerstars cuts rake hugely, will see how profitable it is to play spins at higher stakes when everyone probably will be on the same site :/

me ponders that everything that opens must close one day, the only difference is when that day comes, sometimes it comes in two days, sometimes in two hundred years. for ivey's coaching site it came after not such a long time, surely he expected more business out if this initiative.
|
Mober | 20/04/2017 21:01:00 GMT |
Well if he wanted more traffic with it, he should be so dodgy lately. The stories had their impact i believe. And when you are in the "front line" mews, media and all that crap sites like fb and twiiter it is even easier to ruin your reputation.

They probably had background investors or have gotten a big, fat loan out of some bank which believed that another poker boom gonna happen again in the near future. I really cannot see Phil Ivey putting even one cent out of his own pocket into this, that is really not how he is making dough nowadays.
