Event #25 $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better at the 2018 WSOP is a golden event for poker player Benjamin Dobson, as he outlasted a field of 596 players to win his very first gold bracelet and a sweet prize of $173,528.

Dobson entered the final day of the event as the chip leader with only 3 players left. It wasn't a walk in the park for Dobson, as he had to face some tough competition in the likes of two-time bracelet winner Jesse Martin and seven-time WSOP final tablist Timothy Finne.

Dobson said, "Part of it is just a huge relief because I had a huge chip lead basically through Day 2 and Day 3 and coming into today. So, I kind of had high expectations for myself, but it was also really tough because Timothy and Jesse, they are probably better than me at stud eight-or-better, so I felt like I was a bit of an underdog. I managed to hold my own and ran good in some of the crucial pots. Luck was on my side for sure."

Dobson knocked off Martin into third place, and with that he took almost a 3-to-1 lead over Finne going into heads-up play. In the end, Dobson defeated Finne to win the title and the pot.

Dobson said after he won, "I'm absolutely on top of the world. Stud eight-or-better is probably my favorite game of poker and it is one that I don't get to play a lot. I only get to play it a few times a year, but I really enjoy it."

A huge well done to Benjamin Dobson on outlasting this field and winning his first bracelet. It is tremendous to see a U.K winner at last and i hope to see a few more along the way

and again the new name of the owner of the bracelet ... recently something interesting happens .... constantly new players are winning the world series .... it's very good when new players are removed from the throne of the poker kings of the old winners .... it's interesting to watch it

The game was 7 card, so it is no wonder why the first prize was that low.
And the buy in you can say it was "respectable" :

I have played this game only a couple of times.
If you want to play hi/lo, omaha is the way to go, than this one.

No players that i know from reading information and watching videos but i think this event did play some big name players, so maybe it was just bad luck to them. Also congratulate to winner benjamin dibson

It's good that it happens and less known winners appear. It would be abnormal to see only famous winners. Until yesterday i only saw two players known throughout the poker world, who have arrived at final tables Doyle Brunson 6th and Daniel Negreanu 3rd positions. I think is very good and unknown names to win bracelets.

well form my personal memories I can say that stud hi/lo and Omaha hi/lo were and probably still are games I quite enjoy. stud hi/lo is really interesting game, especially if fixed limit is ditched and we go for pot limit or nl, pots get huge pretty quickly and you can already hold the nuts and there is still lots of money going into the pot

as far as I remember it's an interesting game ... I played different games when there were freerolls at PokerStars in different types of poker and it was possible to try different games without sacrificing the purse .... but now I'm probably so carried away by ordinary hold'em that other games are no longer interesting

The rules are easy, not only for this, but any of the poker games so far.
It is not a rocket science Smile
The moment you read about the rules, you have got it already.
The hard part is, to win with each variation of the game Smile

Isnt obvious what im talking about.
Im talking about the money being low for a first prize win, with a 1.5k USD buy in, in a wsop
tournament. And i said above why i believe so.

Compare it with the event#19 which had 565 USD buy in and a first prize for 181k USD?
Aint that low?
A variable of course is the number of entrants

Belated congratulations to Benjamin Dobson, who handily won the $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better tournament. There were many accomplished and notable players at the final table of the tournament. Very well played, Benjamin!
