The much-awaited $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT (Event #73) kicked off on Wednesday, July 3, with more than 1,300 entrants participating on flight Day 1a.

2019 WSOP: Event #73: $10,000 NLHE MAIN EVENT
Schedule: July 3 to July 16, 2019
Venue: Rio All-Suites Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas
Buy-in: $10,000

As per tradition, the reigning Main Event champ, John Cynn, made his appearance on the first day, with Jack Effel making his opening announcement to start off the Main Event.

After five 2-hour levels, it was Bryan Campanello who managed to bag an impressive chip count of 417,500. The $2,500 Seven Card Razz winner (of $178,052) in the 2013 WSOP was able to maintain his huge stack in Level 4 of the day and he's one of the top stacks in the room until the day's end.

Two notable former WSOP Main Event champs also made it. Chris Moneymaker, winner of the 2003 Main Event bagged up 95,000 while Qui Nguyen, winner of the 2016 Main Event bagged up to 180,500 chips.

Other players who were able to make it through Day 1a and will progress to Day 2ab include: Patrick Serda (216,700 chips), Jared Bleznick (189,100), Jeff Lisandro (180,100), Alex Foxen (173,200), Faraz Jaka (174,100), Martin Kabrhel (164,500), Jack Sinclair (153,800), Kelly Minkin (137,100), Billy Baxter (131,500), Igor Kurganov (129,100), Brian Hastings (124,200), Elio Fox (73,400), Erik Seidel (57,400), and Stephen Chidwick (45,000).

Not everyone was lucky enough to survive the day and this means notable names were not spared as well. Those who fell on Day 1a include Liv Boeree, Lexy Gavin, Brandon Adams, Brian Altman, Bryan Piccioli, 888poker ambassador Chris Moorman (pictured below), Daniel Alaei, Daniel Idema, David Williams, Frank Kassela, Jerry Wong, Kevin Boudreau, Shane Warne and Steven van Zadelhoff.

Randall Emmett (pictured below) made sure everyone knows he's in the house, first by having a flock of flamingo dancers hand out ice cream all across the Amazon Room as WSOP Vice President Jack Effel announced to the players that the ice cream was courtesy of Emmett. A short while later, Emmett tore his way through his opponents to reach the featured table, where he ended the night nicely with 62,300 chips in his bag, about 2,300 more than he started the day with.

Day 1a for the Main Event ended with Bryan Campanello bagging the most chips. Two more starting flights are also scheduled (Day 1b and Day 1c), thus there won't be no shortage of action in this massive event.

Day 1b will kick off the next day, July 4, at noon local time, with players slated to play five 2-hour levels once again.

event that all poker players waited for and most important event of every WSOP!maybe for first day its not big number of players, only 1300,but we all know that on every WSOP we have arround 7000 players, sometimes less, sometimes more!but we will have some great hands from this main event for sure!
 CALICUL04/07/2019 11:58:20 GMT
It is very difficult to gather a total of 7000 players when the entry is 10,000 dollars. You can add more players when the entry is 530 or 1050 but here it's not that easy. The number of players who came here is big and is a successful tournament. Now we have to wait and to see a finished tournament.

1300 players and each contributed $ 10,000. This is of course very cool .... in total, people contributed $ 13 million .... Probably it will be a very cool tournament .... of course there are a lot of participants, but the prize is also very cool .. ... so it will probably be very interesting .... follow the results of this tournament

is late registration available ? if not...wow...so bad news...cause participant drop so much. dule-vu is right, years before total participant more than 7000 players, and total prize could be reach $80 million.
just curious what's going on with this main event.

And by the buy ins and the players, you can see how big this tournament is.
The buy in has 10k USD and there are 1300 players in.
More than 13 millions.
The sure thing is that the winner will get a fortune.
Lets see who the lucky one will be this year.

all of you talking wrong things, ofcourse there will be more players, then this 1300,because they will come on tournament every day, thats why we have 1A,1B....!as I see on some new on other sites, after yesterday we have 3200 players,so this will grow every day!yesterday I found some news, that they expect more then 8000 players and this years WSOP already passed record number of players for all events that they had, total number of players!

What was in the past it is not possible anymore. Now there are many tournaments in many places in the world and poker is down from what it was 10-15 years ago. The difference is huge 7000 in the past and 1300 in present. Anyway, it's ok and organizers are pleased because at this edition there were more games with an entry of $ 10,000.

they expect 8,000 players ???? .... this is something incredible .... $ 80,000,000 prize pool is certainly something unthinkable .... And of course the winner of this tournament will provide itself for the rest of your life .... unless of course you lead the Mad way of life .... I'm shocked by such unbelievable prizes .... but 8000 players are of course also very much .... to become a winner is something incredible Shock

just curious what's going on with this main event.

They would be unable to hold the event if the 8000 players would show up at the same time to play - this is why there's day 1a/1b and so on.
Not sure how you missed this in the article.

Maybe cause my English isn't good, so I didn't read articles completely Smile Smile Just saw few picture how many players involve , even queued up for registration. And I thought few casino collaborate handle the main even.
 CALICUL06/07/2019 12:21:04 GMT
The organizers took care that the players were arranged good. Too many people in one place at the same time disturb and for a suitable place, they made calculations. Anyway this tournament must be played with some space and players will be happy because they will not be crushed as sardines in cans.
 dule-vu06/07/2019 19:57:37 GMT
now you talk that people know why they make this kind of organisation and they took care about players and few posts above you didnt even know for this and that people come in few days and that we need to wait that tournament finish!?
in other post you even told that what was in past, that isnt possible anymore and that is huge difference from 7000 and 1300!
you really just wright just to collect points!
 CALICUL07/07/2019 12:27:35 GMT
Look how many $ 10,000 tournaments were here with 1300 or 1915 players. Another tournaments with 10 k but with 4900 players is at this moment at WSOP. I did not think this would happen but the difference is huge between these games. Why do not you take a break for a few months because you post only for points but you accuse me of this. You do not realize that?
 dule-vu07/07/2019 14:23:44 GMT
wow,you really dont know much about poker!its not another tournament, its just one of 10 K tournament, its SAME tournament!you have only one main event at WSOP,not 10 of them!in all of 3 news that we in last days,in every you have same name MAIN EVENT,just day 1a,1b,1c and in first news we already wright that they expect more then 8000 players!
 pajalnick07/07/2019 14:48:22 GMT
some incredible tournament .... Although the entry fee is $ 10,000 which is quite a lot I think .... but a lot of people have already registered in this tournament .... apparently all good players came to this tournament to try to get a part of the prize stock .... late stage It will be very interesting .... I hope to watch the broadcast of the final table somewhere
 CALICUL08/07/2019 12:58:40 GMT
This is true but i suppose as in another 10,000 dollars tournament many players can register and amount of money it will be a very good one. After all it matters to earn money and less in what tournament you play. I think this rule is for all players in the world.
