Up until Friday December 11, poker fans can nominate for their favorite poker personality at WSOP.com/PHOF to become the 2020 Poker Hall of Fame inductee. This year, only one person will be inducted, just like on the years 1980-2004.

Nominations will be accepted online and fans are encouraged to participate by submitting their nominee along with a brief explanation. All submissions will be tallied and the top 10 nominations will be reviewed by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council.

The final ballot shall be revealed on Wednesday December 16 by Caesars Entertainment. That list will then be sent to the 32 existing Poker Hall of Fame members to cast their votes to determine the 2020 member.

Unlike in the past years, there is no mention of select members of the poker media being allowed to vote. The name of the 2020 inductee will be revealed and honored during the final table of the WSOP Main Event held in Las Vegas on Wednesday, December 30.

The main criteria for the Poker Hall of Fame are as follows:

  • A player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition
  • Played for high stakes
  • Be a minimum of 40 years old at time of nomination
  • Played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers
  • Stood the test of time
  • Or, for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.

Aside from the poker personalities newly nominated by the public, the 2019 finalists all remain eligible for induction as well including Antonio Esfandiari, Chris Bjorin, Chris Ferguson, David Chiu, Huck Seed, Eli Elezra, Mike Matusow and Ted Forrest.

Whoever is chosen will be become the 59th individual inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame and join ranks with the likes of Chris Moneymaker and David Oppenheim, who were the inductees of 2019.

Who do you think will become the Poker Fall of Fame inductee this 2020?

this will be hard to choose and who know who they will add!probably lot of people will give vote to mike sexton, because he is dead and they will want to make tribute to him and to nominate him,but we will see will he be in hall of fame!lot of things are different now and everything can change in next months!
 geseco1211/12/2020 12:19:48 GMT
It will be very difficult to choose one, but people I think they will vote for the icon that he left us, as is mike sexton, as a tribute, but everything can happen in this great event, I hope the best one wins to be able to enjoy it, we will be careful who it will be the winner of the hall of fame.

I don't understand a thing. Why does such news come too late? I met some things this year that were posted in BRM much too late. I will not vote, because have not thought about who to choose. I need to be fair when nominate someone. Maybe next year.

this year is hard for everybody, same as for poker players who love to play live tournaments and they cant do it,so they can only make things like this or to play online!now all of them will have time to think what person to choose for this hall of fame and its not easy!first they need to nominate and then to choose just one person!
 CALICUL12/12/2020 20:33:18 GMT
My opinion is that: I have no idea who to put as favorites, because don't see the list of all professional players who are running for Poker Hall of Fame prize. Something is wrong because it says certain names who ran in 2019 but others added are not?

There are many good players in the hall of fame, although that seems difficult, my candidate would be negreanu, he is a magnificent player, he is also an example of perseverance to follow, and that he makes people love poker for his level of reading the game, and that It is not based on luck, I like his game and I hope he wins, I would like to.

for me best thing in this poker hall of fame is that only one person per year can enter and its not like in other sports!doesnt matter are you dead or live, you have equal chances for it and lot of people decide who will be that person that will be in this hall!they dont need to rush about it!

I hope Esfandiari to be the one who will be enducted into the Hall of Fame for the poker playrs , scond choice is Matusow . I cannot vote , but I have positive belief the outcome will favor Esfandiari . The bad thing is that now it's one only to be enducted into the HOF , not two like the previous years , more difficult to choose the one who deserves this honour .

I don't think Antonio Esfandiari deserves this award, because other players have more bracelets than him at the WSOP, except for Chris Bjorin who has only two. Iranian won a lot of money with poker, but he still needs more from my point of view.

I think that he is too young for hall of fame and that we have much older players, even players who are dead, who will come before him,no matter that he is great players, that he won lot of money in poker!they will need to calculate a lot when nominations are finished and to choose right person for it!
 CALICUL14/12/2020 20:43:35 GMT
It is the best as a top of first 1000 professional poker players from around the world to vote for those nominated for the award. I think it's better, because people have wrong opinions as long they don't know situation so well.

I just like more Esfandiari, that's all , didn't say he's the best by all ctiteria , I like him and I want him to beome a member of this Hall of Fame , some didn't like Moneymaker cause they were saying many othes have more experience in HS games or have achieved more , yet Moneymaker was chosen . I wonder who is tthe moe favorable for the simple players , the fans of poker .
 dule-vu15/12/2020 17:30:29 GMT
I understand why you want that him win this nomination and that he enter in hall of fame and ofcourse every play like some pro player!who know which player they will choose and every of this have chances for it and he made success in poker life!we will need to wait few weeks or months to find out who is winner!
 CALICUL15/12/2020 22:04:58 GMT
I understand your option and i respect it, but we have to take into account many aspects. There is a discrepancy for now and maybe in 7, 8 or 10 years i would give this award to Antonio Esfandiari. It's still premature now. He has to win something else, and after that sure, why not.

The current criteria from membership into the Poker Hall of Fame are:
The nominee must be at least 40 years old
The nominee must have consistently played well
The nominee must have played for high stakes
The nominee must have the respect of his or her peers
The nominee must have played against recognized top competitors
The nominee must have stood the test of time
In the case of a non-player, the nominee must have contributed to the overall success and growth of the game of poker with positive and lasting results.

So , today is the day ?? That's cool , I wonder who will be the next to be announced . I checked the names , saw that Patrick Antonius is also one of the nominees , i also like him , more than Esfandiari , lol , hopefully he gets the grren light and the vots to be inducted into PHoF , or else Esfandiaii lol , good luck to both of them
 CALICUL30/12/2020 22:05:21 GMT
Patrik Antonius has no titles or bracelets. I don't think he should have been nominated but here are the criteria of those who deal with it. It now depends on how it is calculated because he it has a profit of about 12 millions dollars.

If the news is correct we have anew nduction to the Poker Hall of Fame, his name is Huck Seed . I ddn't know muchfor him I have to admit , but the fact that many votes went to the founder of Pokerstars Isai Scheinberg , and not to Esfndiai , Antonius or sb with many wsop tiltles orwinnings or money or any other ctiterio they have input , that maks me thinking .. I do not like this nomination , hopefullt they will not bring it back again in the future .
 CALICUL02/01/2021 11:40:47 GMT
Huck Seed has 4 Wsop bracelets compared to Tom Dwan or Patrick Antonius who have none. He is fine from this point of view, and first time he took it in 1994. The last one in 2003. He has 51 years old and of course i don't know him either.
 Rogerio1002/01/2021 13:23:16 GMT
Hm i heard of Huck Seed before, see him on some tv poker shows too i think. He had some bracelets and 7,5 milions in a live tournaments wining. But on hendon mob i didnt see any tournament winnings since 2015-16. Anyone know is he still playing? Or how is he in cash games?
 CALICUL03/01/2021 12:30:07 GMT
Now i saw that: Huck Seed is your latest member of the Poker Hall of Fame. He won this award rightly, from my point of view and at a distance of 25 points (76) comparative with the 2nd place (51) Matt Savage. Isai Scheinberg 3rd with (45).
 Rogerio1003/01/2021 16:52:59 GMT
Did not ever heard of other two. After a little google search i see Matt Savage is executive director of WPT, he is not a proffesinoal player but has some smaller cashes. While Isai Scheinberg is is a buisnisman, ex progamer for IBM and of course the most important why was he in the list for hall of famer founder of poker stars.
 CALICUL09/01/2021 23:09:28 GMT
The reason for which Isai Scheinberg was nominated for poker hall of fame is this: he led this fantastic growth of poker and his imprint with PokerStars has been seen everywhere. Matt Savage maybe because he officiated over 400 episodes of televised poker.
