Back in April, Mike McDonald announced he is doing a prop bet involving basketball free throws.
In order to win the six-figure prize prop bet, the Canadian poker pro must be able to sink 90 out of 100 free throws before this year ends. He is allowed to hit that goal as many times as he would like. The major rules would be: he has to use a 10-foot high hoop, a regulation-size basketball, and shoot from an exact distance of 15 feet away from the basket.
Prior to accepting the challenge in April, "Timex" was obviously unskilled on the basketball court. His basketball-playing experience is quite limited. Aaron Jones even showed in a Twitter video a few months ago displaying how terrible McDonald's form was.
Moving on to the next three months after that, on a Wednesday afternoon, followers were astonished to see McDonald's form and shooting accuracy has markedly improved.
A Winner in Every Prop Bet
McDonald basically never played competitive basketball ever in his entire life, but as someone who typically wins every prop bet he ever gets himself into, he's determined to see this through - with him winning it, of course.
Recently, he livestreamed two shooting sessions on Twitch. On his practice session Tuesday, he sunk an impressive 85/100 shots. The next day, he visited a gym where he managed to finally hit his goal score of 90/100, thereby winning the bet and it was the most amazing thing to watch.
The poker pro with a total of $13.3 million in live tournament earnings was in great shape, successfully hitting 84 out of his consecutive 92 shots. He was in super tip-top form that he could afford to miss two of his last 8 shots and still come out victorious.

He managed to sink five of his final 9 free-throws, a nice attempt for 89/100, a personal best yet not enough to win the bet - the great thing about this bet is that he can attempt many times as he want until January 1, 2021.
August is the Magic Month
McDonald's metamorphosis from novice basketball player to an adept free-throw shooter is certainly impressive. To compare his progress in the world of pro basketball, Steph Curry is the all-time free-throw shooting leader in the NBA at 90.6%. When McDonald accepted the prop bet, his first shots were like that of Shaquille O'Neal's, an NBA star yet known to be a really bad free-throw shooter who made just 52.7% of his shots from behind the free throw line over an 18-year career.
Lots of money came in against him, mainly because he was judged from his poor form and that he would have to get his own rebounds. Some of those who bet against him were Christian Harder, Jake Abdalla, Nick Schulman, and Will Jaffe.
He had until the end of the year to win the bet, but he just finished it in August.
He was at 73/82, which meant he can only miss one of the remaining free throws in that set of 100, and he went 17-1 over the last 18 to win it - absolutely amazing.
For sinking in free throws in just 24 minutes, McDonald is now $250,000 richer thanks to this prop bet.

| Training is always very good because you train your throws a lot and can become much better as long as it was a disaster in this field. This man has far exceeded his condition and deserves to be praised. Amount of money earned is very interesting.

| its not like everybody can play basketball and you can get in shape in few days!if you never played football of basketball,then you dont know what even to do with ball!but if you played basketball,you can get in shape in few days,but no matter what,this kids of bets are funny for me,because this pro's dont know what do in life,when they cant play live poker and need to think something new!

He won this challenge , some $250K just to have some exercise and be improved on this game , that's vey cool , healthy and rewarding challenge , cause others might tell you to stay in a dark room (or ''SAW'' toilet lol) for some weeks or months before they pay you , others , the good prop bettors , like the ones he had , will give you a nice challenge , beneficial for you .. Like Jaimes Staples , to lose weight

| you are right antonis,in this case this was good challenge for him and he had to work hard and to train to success in this!it was for his health and he even got money from this,so from this side he done very good thing!if he didnt train before,this maybe will make him to do every day now!

He won so much money for this challenge , not so easy as it might seem initially to some people He can repeat it as many times as he wants ?? Did I understand correctly the news ?? That's not very wise to me , if he found the way to accomplish it once , he has the style , the techinique , so he can win many times , the players who gave him this prop bet , this challenge should have thought of it , or am I wrong ??  lol

He was very lucky enough to go home with a lot of money, that will make him happy for a good chunk of time. I think he threw well and this award is compared to a Sunday Million in Pokerstars, when this tournament was in its glory days.

I wish sb put a pro bet on me , most of them seem to be easy money , maybe because it's between friends ?? Or people who do pro bets one each other every itme , so you know , money does circle , goes around , the same as the profits , lol . Anyway , maybe that;s not the case and I am simply being mean  A pro bet is very funny many times , but rarely it might seem really strange the demand of the one putting the challenge . Ofcoufrse noone can impose you to accept it , you do it on your own free will .
This free throws challenge seemed easy , but it wasn't , for sure it was enjoyable . may all pro bets were like this one

| who know what they will do next time and without live poker tournaments they will make some new challenges in next months!I think that now they will make some stupid challenge,just to bet on something and just to have fun in life,when they cant play or travel!we will see what will happen!

| Yes , with some money in their pockets still from their live tourneys before this crisis , with their gambling instinct and mood still there , the ppoker players want to gamble on sth , play for sth , so these prop bets , or cheallenges , even with friends , is sth to have fun , or give each other the opportunity to go for some goals and money at the same time . And for the fans to watch the action .

probably there will no be any live tournaments in near future,especially when autumn come and they will close again countries,so who will make any live poker tournament!?nobody!
you can see that we had news about tallinn and live tournament from 1. to 7.9.,but we didnt got any news about winners or how did it finish and was it even this tournament!who knows what can happen!

| We make enough bets at sports bookmakers. Where are opportunities to risk some money on other genres worth a try because many gamblers had nice gains with something like that. It is not difficult if you use intuition and need some luck of course.

they will not have live tournaments for sure,when they didnt had on summer where situation was better,they will not give on autumun or winter!when dont allow people to go on football games or with just 30 % of capacity,then we cant expect more things for live poker!so probably they will make lot of this challenges in next months,because they will have lot of free time!

| I can't wait to see strange bets at licensed houses in my country, where i can risk some money, because they have higher odds and can bet. A good example for me would be to play on a few champions at end of the seasons. As in this case, it is good for us.

A poker player is always going to be a guy who likes to compete in all forms, that's the case with this great player that I've followed for a long time. As is the pro Mike McDonald is a great player who contagious, he made a shot bet and wins it, he still has the competitive level and all the challenges that are projected make them come true is a crack.

| So this is finaly over? I read a little about this topic in other forums and was allot of drama. I dont know why everyone accept that bet with "unlimited" time to end of the year. I play basket here and there and if i go to gym now and train i am easly on 65-70 in less then a week, maybe it gets harder when try to achive 90. But unlimited atempts i dont think so.

| I would like someone to give me money for succeed in some kind of record where i don't know, but to bet such a large sum of money i could not, because i don't have these dollars. Ia a huge amount of dollars for me. Anyway, this man was very lucky.

| Nah i dont think he was too lucky. He for sure thinks very well how was his chances what bet and odds offer and for how much money, before he get's into this. Maybe he even tries before who knows. And i think he put a couple of months to make it, i think it was more hard work paying then the luck.

| This man did not know how to throw when this bet was proposed. He learned in the meantime and it is not easy to practice in a profession where you need many years of training. It is not easy at all. That winner achieved something very beautiful. Anyway, he's very lucky.

| I've tried in the past to become a better player, but I've always hit on bad poker room softwares. They hit me with hostility. It is a lot of decision of others that makes you to play a lot for their commissions. This is not a problem, but the fact that it does not let me to earn more money is. I will not even become a "silver player" with such a bad attitude on their part.

| I see that Mike "Timex" McDonald just offers another bet. 10-1 that he can get grandmaster in his lifetime in chess. This guy has some crazy bets lol. But it's a little bit confusing, probably will be better if would be time limit there. Will see if any new terms get out.

| I think this man tries different bets to advertise himself... and for other things. I have no idea if any television will help him with some money in this new challenge, but if he offered this opportunity, it means that he is motivated and based on his pocket (in case he loses).

| Yes it sure helps him in advertising himself. But i think he chose his bets very carefuly and offer just the ones that make him a favorurite. Or maybe he like chalanges and if he invest some oney into it it's more fun for him and of course motivating to get some extra money when he tries to do something.

| He thinks well because does not want to lose this bet and it is obvious that. You don't make a decision with a little thought, because it's a lot of money and he wants to win. The concentration of some people is higher than of others.
