What does PKO mean in Poker?
Bounty Tournament
Bounty events play like a standard tournament but the prize pool is awarded differently. For example, if a bounty tournament has a $50,000 prize pool, the $25,000 is paid out in a traditional way, with the remaining $25,000 divided equally among all the players and placed on their heads as a bounty. Eliminate an opponent and you win their cash bounty.
Progressive Bounty or Knockout Tournament
Progressive bounty/knockout tournaments, or PKO, follow the bounty format and enhance it, taking the excitement to another level. The prize pool is split in two just like in a normal bounty tournament, with 50% going to the main prize pool while the other half is placed on the heads of each player in equal amounts. Things get interesting from this point on.
Eliminate an opponent from the field and you instantly win half of their bounty amount, which immediately lands in your partypoker account. The other half of the bounty is then added to your head, making you a more attractive target for your opponents! Once the tournament reaches the latter stages, the bounties can grow to epic proportions, and it's not unusual for the final bounty amount to be bigger than the first-place prize money!
If you manage to finish first place in a PKO tournament, you not only reel in the whole bounty on the second-place finisher's head, but you also win the bounty on yours!
