Despite starting with the smallest stack on the 7th day of play, Jared Mahoney managed to overcome his 5 opponents on the WPT Montreal Main Event final table (lasted for nearly 10 hours) to claim his first WPT title and $433,410 CAD, by far the biggest cash of his career!
On Monday, the final table of the World Poker Tour Regional Seminole Hard Rock "Rock 'n' Poker Open" Main Event (holy cow that's a long name) in Hollywood concluded with no one else than Matthew "Matt" Waxman, of USA, as the champion! The tournament attracted 482 players and Waxman received $123,598 after defeating Yuan Yangshen heads-up. Yangshen only received $1 less than Waxman thanks to a heads-up deal.
Final table results:
1 Matthew Waxman $123,598* 2 Yuan Yangshen $123,597* 3 Tyler Stafman $65,504 4 Tom Gleason $48,441 5 Darryll Fish $36,367 6 Mark Morono $29,135 7 John Pizano $24,295 8 Kevin Spires $19,375 9 Javier Prado $14,532 * Reflects a heads-up deal
Event #2: No-Limit Hold'em / Eight Handed (buy-in: $5,000) A total of 481 players entered this event and created a $2,260,700 prize pool. The final table was set after 3 days of play and Trevor Pope had half the chips in play. He eliminated six of seven competitors at the final table and was crowned the winner after roughly four hours of play.
Anthony Ruberto beat a field of 393 players and took home the World Poker Tour Jacksonville main event for $325,928 - the biggest cash in his poker career. When the final table began, Ruberto had a huge chip lead (more than 2 million-chip advantage over his closest opponent) and his biggest threat was Darryll Fish, who has experience playing in the WPT spotlight after finishing 6th in Season IX's LA Poker Classic. But Fish was knocked out already in 6th place and none of the other opponents could stop Ruberto from laying hands on the first prize and the WPT Jacksonville trophy.
Final table results: 1 Anthony Ruberto $325,928 2 Sam Soverel $187,762 3 Lisa Hamilton $112,657 4 Vitor Coelho $75,105 5 Artie Rodriguez $55,077 6 Darryll Fish $46,315
