It ended up being a very interesting final table of the WPT Marrakech main event since 3 PokerStars Pros, Arnaud Mattern, Jonathan Duhamel and "ElkY", were on it. However, neither of them stood a chance against the native Mohamed Ali Houssam. Houssam, the Day 1 chip leader, played fantastic poker on the final table and always seemed to be one step ahead of his opponents. He also managed to keep a cool head when the cards weren't on his side, and also when he made a bad play... and it really paid off! For the win of WPT Marrakech he received a first price of amazing $267,011 - the biggest cash in his entire poker career!

WPT: German dominated WPT Marrakech

Posted on 01 December 2010 by "T".

Sebastian Homann from Germany totally dominated the Main Event of WPT Marrakech. Homann was in the lead from Day 1 of the tournament and remained in the lead until the final table was down to heads-up. The Frenchman Guillaume Cescut was the only player who managed to overtake the chip lead from the German.

But it didn't take long before Homann got back into the game again. It was a lot thanks to him getting lucky in a big pot that Guillaume was big favorite to win. After this hand, he didn't let go of the lead again. It didn't take long before Homann had all the chips in front of himself and became €244,508 richer. The runner-up, Guillaume Cescut, got €135,831. We can only hope that the Frenchman will get over badbeat that most probably costed him over €100,000.

Posted on 20 October 2009 by "T".

This time World Poker Tour visited Marrakech, Morocco, and created the biggest poker tournament in African history. Not less than 416 players signed up for the tournament, which had a buy-in of €4,500. The total prize pool landed on $2,450,223, and the first prize $563,551.

This historic tournament was however not won by a local, but instead by the Frenchmen Christophe Savary. Savary and Eoghan O'Dea came to be the 2 last men standing in the tournament. Both of the players had plenty of chips and it seemed like it could be a very long struggle for the win.

However, everything came to an end when Christophe Savary made his straight against Eoghan's top pair when both players went all-in on the flop. Christophe Savary received $563,551 for the win, and Eoghan O'Dea got $392,036 for the second place.

1 Christophe Savary $563,551
2 Eoghan O'Dea $392,036
3 Ludovic Lacay $245,022
4 Julien Arneodo $156,814
5 Adrian Marin $107,810
6 Benny Spindler $83,308
