Everton FC

Last season:
After 11 years at the club David Moyes left Goodison Park for Old Trafford and Man United. Roberto Martinex became the new manager at the club after winning the FA Cup and getting relegated the previous season with Wigan. Not many people thought he would achieve the same results as his forerunner especially since the club sold their key player Maroune Fellaini who joined Moyes at Man United. After a great season where the teams looked like they’re heading for the Champions League they at last finished at a 5th place just behind Arsenal who stole the last Champions League spot.

2014/15-season preview:
Ahead of last season the club loaned Gareth Barry and Romelu Lukaku from Man City and Chelsea. They have now signed both players on permanent deals after paying a club record fee of 28 million pounds for the young Belgian Lukaku. Barry joined on a free transfer. The club kept the rest of the squad from last year and Martinez hopes to keep on building on the promising team with the likes of Seamus Coleman and Ross Barkley.

Player profile:
After making his debut as a 16-year-old for Anderlecht it took Romelu Lukaku only a season to win a league title as well as the golden boot award for the Belgian top division. That was enough to convince Chelsea to pay about 10 million pounds for hum. He spent most of his first season being a backup for Drogba and Torres before going on loan to WBA the year after scoring 17 goals in the 11/12 season. Many people thought Chelsea would bring him back ahead of last year but instead they choose to loan him out yet another year, this time to Everton. After a great year they managed to sign him permanently in a club record deal after that Chelsea signed Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.

Summary:
Together with neighbours Liverpool The Toffees was the big surprise package of the Premier League. With Lukaku being brought in the expectations are even higher this year. With an eye on Champions League qualification they hope to at least do as well as last year. This can turn out to be tougher this year with the team being in Europa League, which can be too much to handle for a thin squad.

Prediction:
7th place

Betting suggestion:
Romelu Lukaku top scorer @17.00

I think that this year is the time that Everton fulfill their promise and win something. The league is out of the question but a cup could be on the agenda and this would be my prediction

Every season I always enjoy watching Everton play, they always seem to buy well and have some very solid players so as doubletop says Everton winning one of the cups is not out of the question.
