Man Utd Fan bet entire inheritance on Liverpool FC to win Premier League, wins £36k

Tags: football, Liverpool, Manchester United, Premier League
Posted on 16 July 2020 by "T".

The extremely lucky punter bet the massive amount early on in the season, and he's most likely the only Manchester United fan in the world delighted with their rival's victory.

Liverpool sealed the Premier League title on June 25 without kicking a ball, and they have done it with records tumbling. The club won the English Premier League title for the first time in 30 years. Jurgen Klopp's (pictured below) side secured the title after 2nd-placed Manchester City lost 2-1 to Chelsea in London, which means Liverpool could not be caught with a 23-point lead over City with seven games remaining.

chelsea

Chelsea FC

Last season:
Very much focus was on Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea and English football. Very much of his focus was on the lack of strikers in the squad. Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba together managed to score only 19 goals, which was very poor in comparison with Liverpool’s Suarez and Sturridge (53) and Man City’s Aguero and Dzeko (33). They finished the league in third place, four points behind winners Man City. In Champions League they lost to Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals.

Last season:
For the first time in nine years Arsenal and Arsené Wenger finally managed to win a title after an exciting FA Cup final against Hull City on Wembley Stadium in May. After a strong autumn season the Gunners league form declined as so many times before around the Christmas period. The absence of injured Aaron Ramsey was evident. Last season:
No one counted on Liverpool to challenge for the league title last year but after an impressive season with striker duo Suarez and Sturridge ripping the opponents defences apart they were really close to win the trophy but points loosed against. Chelsea and Crystal Palace at the end of the season turned out to be too heavy and Man City won the league only two points ahead of The Reds. Liverpool are now looking forward for a new exciting season with improving the defensive as the main priority.

Tottenham Hotspur FC

Last season:
After the record sale of Gareth Bale Spurs spent their new war chest on a bunch of players last season. Players such as Eriksen, Soldado and Lamela were brought in for expensive transfer fees. After a bad autumn Andre Vilas-Boas was fired and replaced by former Spurs player Tim Sherwood. He got the team to perform better but losses like 1-5 vs Man City and 0-4 against Liverpool and Chelsea will be stuck in people’s memories. At least the season ended in a sixth place.

Last season:
Many people thought Man United success would stop for a little while whenever Alex Ferguson decided to leave the club. But that it would go as bad as it didn’t wasn’t something even the worst haters of the club would’ve guessed. It ended with a 7th place, which was the by far worst league position for the club since the start of the Premier League. That their rivals Man City and Liverpool were the top two didn’t make things any better.

After 11 years at the club David Moyes left Goodison Park for Old Trafford and Man United. Roberto Martinex became the new manager at the club after winning the FA Cup and getting relegated the previous season with Wigan. Not many people thought he would achieve the same results as his forerunner especially since the club sold their key player Maroune Fellaini who joined Moyes at Man United. After many years under Tony Pulis and his conservative type of play it was time for a change to a more attacking and exciting football under Mark Hughes. The first half of the season didn’t go too well but after Christmas the teams started to pick up wind. Players such as Peter Odenwingie and Marko Arnautovic played their best game and together with Crystal Palace and Liverpool they were the best team of the second half of the season.

hull

Hull City AFC

Last season:
After an ok start of the league season the team shifted their focus to the cup tournaments during the spring and was for a while in real danger of relegation until a home win to Swansea a couple of rounds before the end more or less guaranteed their safety. The most remembered match of the season was the 6-0-win home to Fulham in the Christmas period. The January buys of Shane Long and Nikola Jelavic turned out to be successful and the duo scored a nine goals between them during the spring season. Funny fact is that they were the only team finishing on the bottom half of the table that managed to beat Liverpool during the season (3-1 at home).

After the Christmas period the good results ended and they lost 14 of the 20 last matches of the season. The absence of draws still made up for all the losses and the team ended the season in 10th place.

After a disastrous start of the season under Paolo Di Canio with the Black Cats only getting one point from the eight first matches the charismatic Italian saw himself getting replaced by Gus Poyet. With some great results in the cups as well as the league the former Chelsea midfielder got the team to stay up. Among the victories the two away wins against Chelsea and Man City are something Poyet can look back at with a smile. Queens Park Rangers FC

Last season:
When QPR was about to start their Championship campaign last year their combined wage costs were higher than teams such as Dortmund and Atletico Madrid. They did their best to cut the spending by selling and loaning out a number of players at the same time as they tried to build a team that could bounce back to the Premier League straight as soon as possible. After finishing fourth in the table they won their playoff semi-finals against Wigan and eventually the final against Derby after a stoppage time winner from Bobby Zamora. So after only one year away the R’s are back were back in the top flight again.

Burnley
Burnley FC

Last season:
After selling strikers Jay Rodriguez and Charlie Austin within a period of 12 month time the expectations on Burnley in general and their goal-scoring ability in particular was low ahead of last year’s season.  But Sam Vokes and Danny Ings proved everyone wrong and by scoring 20 goals each they were the keystones of the Championship runners-up last season. The team were strong home at Turf More as always but they were also starting to get wins away from home last year. Even if Vokes were out with an injury for the last two months of the season the team sealed a direct relegation spot with a couple of matches left of the season.

2014/15 season preview:
Burnley has got Chelsea and Man United to play in their first two home games this season. Dream or nightmare? They have strengthen their squad with the additions of the likes of Steven Reid, Michael Knightly and Matthew Taylor but even more important they have managed to keep the dynamic duo of Vokes and Ings who they are hoping will continue to produce goals in the Premier League as well.

Last season:
2011/12 was a successful season for WBA where they finished at 8th spot in the table. But Steve Clarke failed to build on that achievement and got to see himself sacked halfway through the season. He was replaced by the Spaniard Pepe Mel who’s only instruction was to save the team away from relegation which he also managed to do. Eventually WBA finished in a 17th place only three months off relegated Norwich.

2014/15-season preview:
