Manchester United FC

Last season:
Many people thought Man United success would stop for a little while whenever Alex Ferguson decided to leave the club. But that it would go as bad as it didn’t wasn’t something even the worst haters of the club would’ve guessed. It ended with a 7th place, which was the by far worst league position for the club since the start of the Premier League. That their rivals Man City and Liverpool were the top two didn’t make things any better.

2014/15-season preview:

Out goes David Moyes, in comes Louis van Gaal. The decision was made early when the results were not going the way the board and supporters of the club wanted. A couple of experienced players such as Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra have left and Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera have been brought in for large sums of money. United are looking for a quick return to the top again and we will probably see a few more players coming in before the window closes.

Player profile:
About 33 million pounds The Red Devils had to pay Southampton for the signature of Luke Shaw. That fee meant he became the most expensive teenager ever ahead of Wayne Rooney and Javier Saviola (!). After two impressive Premier League seasons with Southampton and a call-up to England’s World Cup squad the expectations are high on Shaw when he enters Old Trafford for his debut.

Summary:
This season is all about revenge for Man United. On and off the pitch. If you are among the biggest football clubs in the world everything but a place in the top is a disappointment. New coach Louis van Gaal showed his tactical knowledge in the World Cup but his spell at Barcelona was not the most successful. Many questions will be answered during this season for Man United.

Prediction:
5th place

Betting suggestion:
United winner @8.75

Already first match and they lose, well the Van gal effect is going to stomp soon and they gonna realize they cannot compete yet as they do not have the chance of buying world class players this year due to being out of CL they are linked with all the big players but none of the move have happened yet. Anyway if Van Gal is given time Manchester United might do something like Liverpool last year but they have to get their star players to perform!

They need to give the side a complete over haul. This team used to be full of world class players seasons ago but now only have a handful while the rest are not good enough hence last season and their first game this season. Defence is their biggest worry since losing Ferdinand and Vidic.

I don't understand what has happened to the transfer policy at United, they have a few great players like Mata and Rooney but they really need more than what they have got now.
Why have they not got some decent players in?The defence has some well known names but they are hardly world class and nothing compared to Man City and Chelsea.
Van Gaal is a great manager but he needs to be allowed to bring in his choices or I can see Man U being in trouble.
Saying all that I thought Swansea played surprisingly well considering I wasn't expecting much from them this season.

I could never tip Man United for the title. They have the same team as last year and all this nonsense about a new manager making a difference is just that, nonsense. Top 6 at the very best unless they buy big

United have sign Di Maria. Quality signing which should improve them for when they are in the championship next season.

4-0 to the mighty MK Dons.

HAHAHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHA

This is one to watch. This could go one of two ways. Most people believe it can only go one way and it should but the belief is slowly evaporating and something special needs to happen for Manchester United to become a world force again. Keep the Faith!

Not a great start for the new manager but this really shows that Alex Ferguson was a great manager and when the Man U players were winning most games they were playing the Ferguson way and not the 'man utd way' as I kept hearing from my brother. Smile

Playing in the second round for the first time in 19 years, United were mauled by an energetic and clinical performance from the side two divisions below them, who were playing in front of a crowd of 26,969 - the biggest in their 10-year history.
Four-time winners United did not register a shot on target until the 72nd minute against the team who were only founded in 2004.
