The Durrrr Challenge is back

Tags: durr challenge, patrick antonius, Tom Dwan.
Posted on 05 March 2009 by "M".

A couple of days ago there was a little action in the durrrr Challenge again but Patrick Antonius and Tom "durrrr" Dwan only managed to play 226 hands before they stopped playing. After these 226 hands Antonius managed to make a $9.5K profit which means that he is now a little over $140K down in total. But the swings that we see in this challenge is really amazing so surely he will be able to turn it around again.

The biggest pot of the day played out like this:

Durrrr makes a raise to $1200 pre flop and Antonius makes it $3600 which Dwan calls.

The flop comes 2Club7Spade5Club and Antonius bets $7200 which is called by durrrr

The turn comes KSpade and Antonius bets $21 600 and durrrr calls again

The river is 4Club and Antonius puts durrrr all in for another $25K and durrrr makes the call.

Antonius shows 10ClubJDiamond8Club8Heart for a ten high flush and durrrr sends his hand into the muck.

How much does it long this deal ?
What is the prize for winner ?
I don't know Durr but seems to me Antonius to be a good player...

50.000 hands

If i remember correctly Durrr will win 0,5 million, if he ends up ahead, and his opponent 1,5 million, if he makes a profit.

Is Antonius back from Thailand? I think that's why they haven't played much because of the different time zone.

i'd still be interested if there's something true about the rumors that dwan is broke
 GeneYuss13/03/2009 05:41:17 GMT
I don't think there is anyway Dwan is broke. How much is he down this year?

Highstakesdb has him down ~ 3.3 million.
 fcumred13/03/2009 12:43:34 GMT
Think of the rakeback these two are getting
 redeemo13/03/2009 12:46:48 GMT
fcumred, afaik theres cap on the rake taken by the house on ftp to $0.5. and of course, the rakeback accumulated a month for these high stakes players wont hardly cover a 3x pf raise lol
 fcumred13/03/2009 14:24:39 GMT
If they want to donate it to me then I wont object.

Big Smile Big Smile

Thanks for the info shokaku.

I'd be surprised if Dwan issued the million dollar challenge with only 3.3 mill. And didn't Dwan win around ~7 million last year? He probably has some of that left over.

I'm just wondering how much HSP and other shows pay the players because there is no way they play for free. I know a lot of sponsors pay the players but some players don't have sponsors.

You misunderstoud my post. Dwan has lost 3.3 million this year. For 2008 they have him up 5.5 million. But highstakesdb only cover online games, and do miss some there too.

I know what you meant. It's just rumored that Dwan is broke. So if Dwan's bankroll was only 3.3 mill at the beginning of the year than he'd be broke but I don't think he's broke. What do you think? I seen a thread in Oct.2008 where Dwan was down to 1mill. Do you know how much rakeback Dwan gets? I think all Full Tilt Pros like Antonius get 100% rakeback?

He was down even more in February. So i don't think he is broke. Where does this rumour come from?

Rake is comparable low at the high stakes. So rakeback will not save the day.
 Cranberry16/03/2009 08:51:11 GMT
Nahh he aint broke!
 shokaku17/03/2009 16:19:10 GMT
A new session!

Antonius could make up a lot of his earlier losses with a 87k win.

Challenge:

A bit over 5000 hands played. Durrr up 52k

There was some news articles on some websites and some people mentioned Durrrr being broke in some forums.

Ya, they finally continued Durrrr's challenge. Pretty close so far. I wasn't expecting it would be this close but only 10% done so lots could happen.
 shokaku21/03/2009 06:54:03 GMT
A new session!

Antonius took over the lead with a nice winning session.

Challenge:

A bit over 5500 hands played. Antonius up 107k.
 Davoodoo21/03/2009 11:27:25 GMT

 shokaku23/03/2009 16:03:42 GMT
