A man from Timmins, Ontario, Canada will be celebrating Christmas early with a million dollars more on his pocket after winning the Guaranteed $1 Million grand prize from the November 30 Lotto 6/49 draw. John Miller said while he picked up his winnings at the OLG Prize Center in Toronto, "I enjoy playing the lottery draw games. Clearly, now, LOTTO 6/49 is my favourite," he jokingly added.

Miller found out about his big win a few days after the draw when visiting the mall together with his daughters...

"I was at the mall and I used the ticket checker. I won small amounts on a couple of other tickets but it was the third ticket that left me staring at the screen. I saw, ‘Big Winner' flash on the screen and I thought I won a $1,000. We all went to the retailer to find out more about my $1,000 win. The terminal froze and I saw ‘Big Winner' on the screen, but I didn't see a prize amount. OLG called and explained what was happening. The retailer then told me I won $1 million! My daughters and I just stared at each other, read the validation slip and saw the number but it was so unbelievable, we really didn't say much. We left the mall in a big hurry."

What does he plan to do with his winnings?
"I am a Northern Ontario boy and I absolutely have to get myself a new pickup truck. It's great for driving in the winter and fun in the summer. I am also thinking about buying a new home. Big enough for my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom I plan to celebrate and share with."

Huge congratulations to John Miller from Ontario, Canada on winning the $1 Million grand prize from the Lotto 6/49 draw. I am very much curious to know how gambling winnings are generally taxed in Canada.

A good win, no doubt about that, but not for news.
Winning 1 million in lotto is nothing in almost every country.
It is even considered a bad prize in many Smile All it needs is a couple of jackpots.
The next one looks nice at 5mil from what i see in their site Smile

Thank you for your response to my inquiry, OnedOutAK. There are no income taxes on Canadian lottery winnings for Canadian citizens? That's awesome! The Canadian lottery must be one of the most extensive and profitable lotteries in the world.
