HighStakes: "Ziigmund" and "durrrr" plays $3000/$9000 Pot Limit Omaha

It's not enough for Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Tom "durrrr" Dwan to play extremely high stakes like $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha. Last weekend they raised the stakes to $3000/$9000 and one got to see some huge pots, many of them around 300,000 US dollars!

Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Tom "durrrr" are well known from playing on the highest possible stakes at Full Tilt poker. But the extreme stakes $500/$1000 that they usually play is not enough for them anymore as they now raised to $3000/$9000. With other words it costs $9000 just to see the flop (assuming that there is no action before the flop). Some of the pots laded on around $300,000 and it was a very tight game where hundreds of thousands of dollars swap owner in almost every single hand. But even though the swings were extremely high, the final result wasn't what many people might have expected it to be. Tom Dwan won $160,000 from his Finnish opponent, quite a lot of money, but not considering that they played $3000/$9000 blinds in one of the most action filled games - pot limit Omaha.

Even though Tom Dwan won $160,000 from "Ziigmund", he's still $2 million down this year. And if he loses his own challenge, he will be owe Patrik Antonius anither $1,5 million dollars! But there is a long way to go in the "durrrr challenge" and anything can still happen.

This durrrr likes to risk everything. I think my heart would jump of my heart through my mouth and start walking alone as soon as i have a $300.000 pot to discuss! He is occupying his year with so many challenges and games that i think that his most desirable wish is to see the end of 2009. Its not running very well, but he still has a lot to play, lets not forget Antonius. The recovery of his bank is half in his hands...

Its funny how they play a 1/3 rate blinds instead 1/2, they can perfectly do it at PLO haha!
I would love to catch the next 3k/9k session! They are awesome!

Two poker pros, two poker rockets! Both of them are very aggressive I dont know who is the best. I guess it is tom durrr dwan. He wasnt in a good phase, but i think now he is returning to his usual poker skills and he is playing better. But i coninue to say he wont win the challenge against Antonius! LOL

Was this match on Full Tilt?

I went on there last night but couldn't find the $9000/$3000 table to sit at. All the regulars where playing $1000/$500 but I couldn't be bothered to play that low.

Understandable. Play there is like on the play money tables.

$3000/$9000 blinds are interesting.. Small blind has a huge advantage and can fold cheaply with a bad hand. How long did they play?
 hum11119/05/2009 22:27:48 GMT
9000$ only to see flop, crazy people. i can't believe in such way of wasting money...
 GeneYuss21/05/2009 00:23:02 GMT
I found out they were really playing 500/1000 PLO but agreed to raise and reraise preflop. So its not exactly 3k/9k blinds because only one person acts preflop but huge pots nevertheless! I also heard they played some more 3k/9k and Ziigmund won his 160k back.
 M4tt03/06/2009 09:12:45 GMT
they don't know what to do with their money... they want to play higher and higher blinds.. when will come 5K/10K blinds? lol
