Eastgate lost $1.7 million during World Cup

Peter Eastgate has since he won the WSOP Main Event 3 years ago already stopped playing poker once, then returned to the poker scene again and sold his WSOP bracelet on Ebay. There has been a lot of things going on in Eastgate's life since the big win in 2008, and it doesn't seem like he has any problem to spend the money he won.

In an interview with a Swedish poker magazine, Peter Easgate says that he's hooked on sports betting and that it has costed him a significant amount of money. For example, he lost 1.7 million dollars during the World Cup of Soccer last year. However, East Gate says that he has stopped playing for that kind of money - mostly thanks to a method he invented himself.

"If I bet more than $2,000 on a game, I have to pay $20,000 to 4 of my friends. Because of this I take better care of my money and lately I haven't betted as much as I used to", says Peter Eastgate

Easy come, easy go. Nothing more to say to that. Limiting to $2k a bet? I guess that is more than i did bet on sports in my life. Shock

He is a gambler, addicted to it and misused his money, now he is broke and wants to make some money by returning to the Felt that is my opinion.

It is seems that he can not stop .. It is bad, you need to stop when it takes to much of your life or it starts to destroy your life..
Thanks for sharing and not "funny" stories about poker/betting

Eastgate needs advice. Psychologists and shrinks should be in conquest to see who will get him in their offices. I always related guys who win lots of money playing and betting with problems in keeping that money. In another scale (much less money) i think i have some friends suffering of the same problem. I dont want to talk bad about Eastgate, this is something that it is studied and noone should joke about him, or get in advantage like some "friends" seem to be doing. It would be better to look for help for him, once it seems he cant take that iniciative by himself.

Im almost sorry for him, he seems to be rather stupid... maybe he should just stop playing and enjoy the rest of his money, he probably still has more then most people earn in a lifetime
