The 2 starting days of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament are already in the books. The field has been narrowed down from 415 to 170 players. The chip leader, Chris Trapani, comes from Day 1b and he will bring 197,900 chips to Day 2. For the Day 1b win, Trapani received a bonus of $10,000 and many think it's a fitting tribute to the memory of his father, Marko Trapani, who helped come up with the Shooting Star format back in 1997.
There are lots of big names left in the tournament. Just to mention a few of them, Kara Scott, Chris Ferguson, Mike Sexton, Gavin Smith and Mike Matusow. Day 2 will be a very interesting day to follow! Count on that!
In the picture you see Chris Trapani and Shooting Star Erick Lindgren. Both players pushed all-in preflop with pocket kings. All spectators and players at the table expected a split, but the poker gods had other plans. To everyone's surprise, Trapani flopped a spade flush draw and hit the flush already on the turn. Then another spade came on the river, which made the hand even more unbelievable. Erick Lindgren took the bad beat with a pinch of salt and congratulated Trapani.
